Hey Andy

Where you been hiding boet. Thought I was going to see you at Bela-Bela? Someone said you off the bike?

I was going to do Bela Bela but due to certain events I have done almost no training so was in no condition to ride. And I had an exam on Monday which didn't help things.

Ox, methinks maybe Andy was still recovering from whatever hill it is you two are sounding like amarried couple over.

FFS kiss and make up already.

Sounds something like a ride we did about a year ago. You remember planning what was know as WWRR. I think you went out of your way to find hills that would kill me, and then it was the coldest flippin day in my living memory. (Not that you could help the weather, but like it was a tough ride ofr us southern gentlemen who are not used to hills since we only have flase flats around here.

Fork, let it be already the two of you. I might still be in therapy about the WWRR, but like I have never beeched about it.

Hope to see you back on the bike soon. We are all heading onto the MTB's for the winter to get lekka strong for next season. Maybe some road rides will let you know. Hope the events are OK now....

I was recovered from it very shortly after reaching the top.

Os is the one who beeched, as you put it, about it. On the ride and now. His ego hasn't got over not managing to ride up the hill. At least the others attempted it without hanging onto the car. Trubie did well and got up it no problems.

I plan to try get riding again from Monday.

Would be good to do some rides, road and MTB.

So why you been off the bike then Andy?

Taking a well deserved rest?

What hill is the one in contention? I recall the route Ox planned last year as being rather tough. We met at Riverside Lodge (I think, or was it Riverfield Lodge? I can't remember. All I know is one of them is a recovery place for people who are shambies. I know because someone I know, spent some time at the shambies place.)

Anyway, we did the cradle route or someof it, went up Kdorp hill and then up Robert Broom drive on the coldest day last year. And I managed all that on my 11 / 21 rear cluster with 42 / 53 chain rings.

Like I said, still taking therapy for that one. The ride itself was ok and I hung in there mostly till the end, I just took a shorter route home than the original planned route but then so did everyone else.

It was quite a hub ride.

Of course nowadays, I only manage to cycle up and down the praktown ridge every day. Twice a day. Maybe that therapy didn't work.

Overseas, law school, board exam, my grandfather passed away (he was quite connect to my cycling so after that my motivation for riding was in the negative) and a few other things.

This was one hill that he didn't take you up. Max gradient is 22%. Os hung onto the car to try get up until the car stalled and then he walked.

Lets look at this like this:

  • Andy fancies himself as a climber
  • I am merely a part time runner, and occasional cyclist
  • Andy collects a bunch of people to go ride on this route he planned

  • These people are of widely varying abilities

  • He then neglects to take care of his guests, and pawns the slowest
of them off to me (Which I did look after, until a friend of hers came to pick her
    with a car)
  • Some even damaged their bicycles on that hill slipping, etc trying to get up

  • Most people at the back complained about the hill
  • I offered to vocalize, which I did
  • I carried on cycling with a friend whom I told I'll cycle with
  • Only after said friend OK'd it did I go ahead and played a bit, burning a few kilojoules and frustrations due to our host

  • Later in the ride we joined up with 2 other cyclists, one punctured, and one went ahead with the group. I stayed behind with the person who punctured (was not even part of our group)

  • Andy voluntarily decides to get defensive a few months later
  • Andy gets personal and throws snide remarks

Andy, this whole debacle on this thread makes you look like a looser.

EPIC FAIL man on your side, reallysmiley11.gif

But enough said from my side... OUT!

Typical trainee lawyer that he his he will most probably want to have the last say, and come back with another taunt. However, Andy rather take the 'let it go' offers mentioned earlier, and move on!

Slave, apologies for this but I am moving on now.

Just to add some details that you left out and correct some that you got wrong.

* I had never ridden up that hill before that day so it was new territory for all of us. I did tell you all that I had never ridden up that hill. I did not know the difficulty of that particular hill. The Cradle and Krugersdorp area is hilly, although not as bad as SBR, so you all had an idea of the terrain and since you had all managed SBR then you should be able to manage a less hilly route.

* I can't ride with the "slowest" as you call them and direct the "fastest" which road to take. I can't be in multiple places at the same time and ride with everyone at the same time. That is why I rode with everybody at some point in the ride and rotated between riding with everyone.

* That girl's friend was actually driving behind us the whole way and it was arranged beforehand that she would leave the ride early because she had a wedding to go to.

* Due to the group having varying abilities we stopped at numerous points to regroup.

* You are the one who started this whole thing. It was dead and buried until you dug it up.

But I agree, lets leave it now. I have got some valuable insight.

Three weeks ago I did about 230 km just commuting. THe following week I did 210. Last week about 350. This week 210.smiley18.gif

So by the time the weekend strolls around, the last thing I feel like doing is taking a 50 fun ride with any of the bunches. I am still not really as fit as I was before my "little lie down" and I am definitely slower. smiley5.gif

So on weekends, I laze about helping SO with cleaning the house etc (She is working now, so limited time in the week to do houework.) and recovering for another week of commuting.smiley9.gif

At this stage, I think I might manage to stay with the social bunch, but I have little desire for that. Especially since I think Hell (en) AKA moaner, might just be in attendance with all her whining and whinging.smiley18.gif

Dude, I would rather stay home and spend the time with the missus.

Therefore no bunch riding just yet.

OK, so I take it we have now all (Andy and Ox) vented enough about the hill and the route and all that junk. The subject is now closed on this thread so if you still want to lock horns over the matter, please start up your own thread and bash it out there OK.smiley11.gif

Andy, sorry to hear about your grand dad and all that stuff, but like it's time to stat your hill climbing stuff again. Enough of the laziness. Find some motivation and ride. I'm sure someone can tempt you with a ride around SBR. I am not fit enough yet to take on that one, but will all my secrt training, watch out, I may be back with the bang predicted by HB.)smiley5.gif

HB, what made you decide to pick on that as a login name. I am really interested to know. Kieran, take timeto heal properly dude. You may end up doing some damage that will catch up with you later on. I used to laugh at this sort of advice when I was younger and find that it did have some merit.smiley18.gif

Hey Slavey! smiley4.gif

I had everything checked out smiley1.gif Lower body and legs are good smiley4.gif Just upper body that took the brunt of the fall. Doc said to ride IDT is ok just mustn't get out on the road for at least 6 weeks until my hand is strong enough to grip properly. Must avoid bumps until then too.

So next week will be on the IDT smiley1.gif
