Come now Slave!

There are only two hard climbs on the whole loop - the first one and the last one!

Btw - planning to do a slow "socialish" SRB ride next Saturday if anyone wants to join.

Andy, Andy...Dude. Good thing you are a legal beagle because your counting and or arithmetic skills suck. :blink:

There are at least 4 difficult climbs that I can think of. The first is long and hard because it is right at the beginning. Then the next one is After the dam, just before we cross over the Karee Kloof road. The next is the long haul up after you re-enter the reserve through the boom gate and then of course, the last one that just goes on and on forever. ;)

This of course excludes all the little humps and bumps in between. :(

But all in all SBR is a really cool place to ride. :D

Trubie didn't eneter properly!

Slave, you are behind the times! Kid is now a regular A bunch rider! Nancy is even getting the odd A bunch ride. So you should race again, you will be in Elites!

SBR has many little bumps but the two hard climbs are the first one out the parking and the last one to the top of the ridge.

The climb after the damn is not really hard but it can just get a bit windy which fuels the perception that it is hard.

PrincessHannah, just remember that profiles of any routes do look much worse than they really are. Example: Carousel race. It is fairly flat with one little bump and one climb. But if you look at the profile there seems to be much more climbing.

Hi! :D

Thank you for the info Indiglo kid, Agteros and Andyr. What is LBS? :blink:

I like the sound of SBR can you stop anywhere for tea or drinks there? I found it on google earth and it looks like its very hilly!

Oh my Andy you sound like a very good rider starting in A group! Good luck!

I am very nervous to ride with you all as i think you are all vry far above my level and ability. But i can sprint very quickly! :P

I am looking forward to meeting Nancy and this other girl that rides the tandem.

Princess Hannah :)

Your highness. Since you are a noob around here let's try and help out with some of the mumbo jumbo lingo we speak. There is like a whole dictionary somewhere of hub speak. Below are some of the more common terms used.

LBS=Local Bike Shop

SBR=Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve.

kid= Local hood in charge of visitor prtotection

Tandem cyclists: Pilot= Front rider in control of (just about) everything

Stoker= Brave soul seated behind pilot. Usually flying blind and must have absolute faith in Pilot.

Snakebite= Impact puncture usually caused by road debris. (Potholes,speedbumps, stones etc)

Racing Snakes= Andy, Trubue and Kid.

Tri-athlete = Hummingbird (mini kid and trainee hood)

Bonk = What happens when you try to climb a hill too fast / ride too hard. Eg. I pushed too hard on the steps and bonked half-way.

Blown = bonk. Runners call this "the wall".

Dropped = Skivvy after about ten minutes of trying to hang on to the fast bunch. Bonked and dropped straight out the back of the pack.

WTH? An expression of mild surpirise. What the hell?

WTF?? An expression of total surprise. Kid would have said this when he saw I was planning my comeback on Sunday. :lol: The surprise indicator is usually the numberof question marks. :P

Noob (or newbie) = Someone new to the hub.

Rookie = somone with a low post count.

Andyr249 = Someone who can't count hills in SBR.

Kid = Partner in crime or accomplice of Andyr249

Slave = undercover dumb@ss and general sh!tstirrer.

Andyr249 = Someone who can count hills in SBR and loves all roads which point skyward!

Kid = Partner in crime or accomplice of Andyr249

Slave = undercover dumb@ss and general sh!tstirrer.

There, I fixed it! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Slave, I can count the hills in SBR. The difference lies in what constitutes a "hill" and a "mountain" etc. You see, what I consider a hill, Kid considers impossible. ;)

Never thought that I would ever say this but I agree with Andy.

SBR has 2 climbs. Two very tough climbs but only 2 climbs.

You see Slave? The Kid even agrees with me! And about climbs!!!! :lol:

This and Trubie's "issue" you seem to have breathed in too much pollution during your commutes. :D

Hello! :D

So Trubie is the guy with the nice legs and the nice bike?

And Indigo Kid sounds like a good laugh!

Thank you for the glossary Slave! Makes more sense now!

I see there is a lot of rivalry between you all? :lol:

I dont really understand the profiles so i dont think i will be riding in the sbr any time soon!

But i think i see why nancy rides with all you guys now! :P
