The hub seems to be a little broken.

@Agteros

that 5th bike is going to be a TT bike for IM - right ?

Congrats on winning a new MTB frame

TT bike it might be, but no not for the IM (and it will be one size too large for you to do YOUR IM with)

famous last words

wat ookal... ek weet wat ek doen, wat ek wil doen, en wat ek gaan doen. Nothing you say, nor what you prefer not to understand, nor what you pretend to ignore will change that...

Happy IM trolling to you IK

Lets try that again:

hmm yeah.... Got the overall thanks mate. Anyhow, the idea was to do one lap on the humber, but then one lap turned out to be half of the race! After that one lap I was NOT dead last (amazingly!), although I had to walk and push at quite a few places. Finished my one lap of 16km in around 1H10 (?) being completely bushed. Initially I thought it was the gearing (bike has a 48x16 setup), but the lack of solid food in the preceeding 24 hours (Fri night I had a smoothie at the gym, Sat some pronutro, and a hammer recovery drink) might have contributed?

Anycase, the organisers and sponsors took pity on me, and I was given a new moutain bike frame from Cotic (www.cotic.co.za) for riding the most challenging bike. :D

Anyhow, so now I'll be the proud owner of an orange Cotric Soul frame (still to be swopped for the small, blue BFe they had at the prize giving)... This all means that I'm now short of a few MTB components to get the new bike rolling! Might just take the short cut and build the Raleigh components over onto it :( Actually thinking of turning it into a single speed bike, meaning that I'll have 4 bikes, and possible 5 at the end of the year. Nuts I tell you, NUTS!

'k, so now I unnerstand the stuff you were trying to day before. Just got a bit foncused with all those funny additions to the text..

So what you're saying is that the race sponsors / organisers felt sorry for you for riding a Humbler and gave you MTB frame to improve the overall "tone" of the race. But then again, an overall was zachery the correct kit for doing a ride on THAT bike.

Hey, Kid, pssst, yes you. Dude,I am with the oxman on this one. Put your money where your mouth is and join me for baby IM next year. Then, once yu've done, it, you can gather more support from the rest of the gang. Like maybe we shoud enter a team ASGR for Baby IM.

Oi wassup dudes!

Seems there has been some serious racing by the team in my absence

Ox you raced the delivery bike, big respect dude

Trubes welcome to the 'dark side'

Thanks bud, well done on finishing the EPIC - big respect for you, don't know how you managed to be on a bike all that time.

Congrats Big Ben! That was a great achievement!

Slave, leave me out the IM plans. That is the blue child's dream, not mine! Nutty things like cobbles and climbs more than fulfils the criteria for my memebrship to this nuthouse!

 Andy. I agree, you are more than qualified to be a regular member of this thread even if you seldom venture south to ride with us on a regular basis.

When are you going to the Northern hemisphere to demonstrate your particular affininty for riding on cobbles?

Posted

 Well if the blue child would stop tampering with wheels I couold make more regular treks down south. I'm sure he does it just for kicks.

Tomorrow evening. :D

@BB I think we need to call you BenEpic from now on! Well done on sticking it out for the WHOLE Epic!

@IK Your number is up for the IM, better find out about entering and do it well in time!

@AndyR Have a safe trip (and this covers the cobble stones as well!) Remember to enjoy the bone jarring shaking as well

@Slave U better take the blue child under your wings and teach him about running with rubbery legs coming off the bicycle!

@Trubie Enjoy the all 29" of that mountain bike

Ohh, and I'll be looking for a 26 rear cog to tame that 48 front on the Humber! the 16 makes it a bit tough on some (most!) hills

Thanks Agteros. Will do so!

Maybe we should just enter Kid into IM?

Andy, if your wheels are too weak to withstand the roads of the souf, I have grave reservations as to how they will be able to handle the little cobblestones in the northern hemisphere.

Have a safe trip and enjoy that insane ride that you are going to undertake.

So now we have an Epic finisher in out little circle and will soon have an international rder as well.

Hmmmm, from humble beginnings.....

(oh and we have a delivery bike rider too.) Quite a mixed circle of peeps that hang around here. :P

My wheels can handle the roads of the south. Kid's tampering will render any wheel unuseable. What caused my flat that Saturday was, ironically, a drawing pin. No wonder the cradle has quietened down, Ken has moved to the south!

I've already told you, I'm just the motivator.

Speak to Andy he's got a 26 rear cog for you, it's SRAM so it wont last long.
