Hey all, I will be in JHB over the weekend  of 9 May and might give the ride a shot. Only problem is I will probably be waaaay too slow so might do it "incognito"smiley11.gif - in fact may even change my "nicK" to "Blobonabike" nowsmiley4.gif.

BTW GO2, nice meeting you - thx for the great frame and wheels. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with you as well.

Maybe when I'm fighting fit again I will do the BMC justice at the ride with you guys.

Rac - as long as you leave that bleeding nose in CT, y're more than welcome to join.

We have a couple of groups in the group.

There is the fast one - where Slave rides

Then the medium paced one for the Owl, myself and Oxman

Then the really slow one for beginners where the cool dude alias Indigo Kid usually ends up riding - but not to worry - he's got lotsa company there.smiley2.gif

Ok, have changed the bleeding nose for a more recognisable self portrait smiley2.gifsmiley4.gif

What is the avg speed of the groups you mentioned? (so that I can see where I will fit in).

Also, what is the route like - I have this thing about not wanting to hold anyone upsmiley1.gif

Hey Racman! Yeah, was cool meeting you...and thanks again! You have to come ride with us...dont stress about the pace.

However...I can see a holy war erupting between Indigo Kid and Nuwbie after that last comment from Nuwbie!! Ha!

Come ride Racman, no need for a disguise!

You wont hold anyone up. We do the usual Lido loop, its flat. The only time the road goes uphill is on the Steps...but its bareable and nobody will leave anyone behind. I'm not sure of the average speeds...30kph+?? I dunno, I dont study them!

Just come and ride...

Ok, will give give it a go. (Will give you a call next Friday to confirm place and time etc GO2.)

I have two weeks to pluck up the courage so should be fine. Was thinking of taking the plunge and doing the Kremetart so I need to get back into it anyway.

racman, this is a cool group to ride with. You won't get left behind.

when I join them the average speed is about 26-28km/h. I can only imagine that it's much higher when I'm not around smiley9.gif

I can say though that they're a longsuffering bunch that are full of chirps and good to have around for some encouragement and a good laugh smiley20.gif

(and with this group I often find a supportive hand on my back, pushing me up the hills smiley9.gif)

Kid is harmless, but you are right the war may not be holy though! People from the south tend to fight "dirty"

My advantage - bigger than Kid. (2nd thought it might be a disadvantage)

His advantage - ? oops - cant really think of something now, but yeah he is quite quick - remember his 40k+ pull the other daysmiley18.gif

'k' date=' so I know we have to get past tomorrows ride first, but for all you long range planners out there:

Monday, Agteros and I are taking a gentle ride out to SBR, past the entrance and then turning up towards Henley and then heading North back to Alberton.

The distance from Xumbugs out and back again will be just over 80 km's.

Any takers?

This was the plan for tomorrow, but was never taken further (body.... erm head counts etc)

I broke the MTBs chain, and the rear derailleur is not playing nicely, so any takers for this, or are we going to train the short fast loop smiley36.gif for when Racman joins in two weeks?

Owl, Ox - there was a plan for a ride tmrw, but I dont think Slave is going to ride.

When we parted ways yesterday he looked pretty bushed, and I dont think he is gonna ride tmrw.

The Kid is pumping muscles tmrw in the gym.

I am going out at 5:00 , we are starting at Steers in M/dal. Gonna ride to through Alberton, and south towards Nasrec, and then head back to Xumbugs.

Will possibly also do Bosco's from there with a bunch.

There will def be riders at Xumbugs at 7:00 and the options will be ample.
