Everyone taking up skiing now?

Why you all talk about buying/getting kit all of a sudden?

I heard a rumour about something called 'winter'? Apparently it is freezingly cold on a bicycle during this 'winter'. As the Eskimos stay in the polar regions (where it is cold) surely they should have adequate clothing to deal with this thing called 'winter'

So' date=' being an ex-Natal boikie and all, I don't really handle cold spells very well....

Just got back from Durbs (after a week and a bit) where the early morning (04:00) temperature was 20?C. smiley2.gif

The thought of having to wear arm warmers again makes me want to sleep later. But then my performance in the Tour D'urban yesterday makes me think otherwise.

Yip, riding tomorrow from Steers. See you there??

Durbs was... let's see... terrible last 18Km - made it to the top of Pinetown with the lead bunch of about 25 without much effort. Werner Moolman and 2 others got away at this point - no problem as we still had 61Km to go.

I thought it would be a breeze (excuse the pun) coming back after the turn around at the Desainager circle (Tongaat), until I hit the wall (not sure if I bonked or if the wind was the wall).

Anyway, 4 minutes off the winner (Werner Moolman - what a ride, 66Km TT), and 10 minutes slower than 2008.

Hope to be there yes.

Bad days are part of the fun, just make sure you dont let it happen again.

If of course you know what went wrong, that is.

What went wrong? I didn't suck wheel like half the bunch did smiley4.gifsmiley4.gifsmiley4.gif.

No serously, it was a wake-up call for SA's at the end of the month... need to practice my wheel-sucking skills with the 4 weeks that are left.

[Edit on] Note to self - take holiday after the race, not before. [Edit off]

Hey Frosty...when you guys ride from Steers, whats the route you take? Down into Brackenhurst, along into Alberton and up silver ball...through to Gold Reef and back?

Sounds like a nice ride to join. But I'm guessing lights are a 'must?!'

Down Michelle to Jacquelene, past Reading golf course, up to Southcrest, though Steeldale (not up to Silverball) to Gold Reef, through Robertsham down into Winchester Hills, through Glenvista to Bellairs and back up to Steers. It's about 36Km from Steers to Steers.

Most of the route is lit, but not enough to highlight the potholes, bricks, pedestrians, etc. on route.

For some reason, I can't see the upload button on the image pop-up screen, so I can't upload the map.

Now I'm definitely not riding in the morning with the bunch if you nutcases are going to be there....

Need to get fit and string again firstsmiley9.gif

Please specify nutcases' date=' as I am def taking exeption to that rude remark[img']https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley2.gif[/img]

Fit and string? - After Panorama you must be superfit and mega strong?

What is string? Hope not the string I am imagining. Not on the morning ride please, already enough distractions in the dark.
