I went this year, don't ask how it went, all I can say is the campervan is NOT the best option. Please PM if you would like some advice. Not every town in Europe has a camp site. Rather hire a smaller car say like a "combie" and stay in B&B's, but book now. Washing and every thing can be done over night and your back up can sort it out. It also should work out cheaper. One little scratch on the RV costs 5000 - 6000 euros. If you do take the RV, use your SA insurance company NOT theirs. I will be back some year to finish it, don't pull out what ever you do. I still have a tear in my eye thinking about it. Day 5, we were 1hr 30min into a 124km stage and we had only done 7km!!!!! Good luck it is well worth it. Would rather do the TA. As WH pointed out, I said the Epic is a piece of cake in comparison to the TA In the 2008 Trans Alps a rider climbed 21 691 metres in 665 km's which equates to 32 metres of ascent per km. In the 2008 Cape Epic a rider climbed 18 966 metres in 966 km's which equates to 19 metres of ascent per km. Look at the facts and make up your own mind.
