Can I use a 9spd XT chain on a 9spd road bike?

it actually says what they're suitable for on the boxes of shimano products.

I have a 9-speed LX mtb bike and a 9-speed 105 roadbike.  The official Shimano chain is exactly the same and has BOTH LX and 105 printed on it.  So not only CAN you use the chain it IS actually the same chain!
