pretoria-area - safe roadie route?

I'm piloting a blind tandem for the argus; we need to spend some time together on the bike.

 

i'm in joburg and he's in pretoria - he's blind, so i can't arrange to meet him somewhere - pretoria would thus be better.

 

i don't usually venture on tar, and don't know the pretoria-area that well, so need help:

 

- i need a 50-60 kay route, preferably not too hilly, and with not too much traffic, where we'd be relatively safe - (i'm female and he's blind, so we are a relatively soft target),

- or (preferably) a 50-60 kay roadie event in pretoria area around january next saturday - couldn't find anything on cyclelab, and son't really know where to search for roadie-stuff

Sunday morning aroun Roodeplaat dam is about 70km if you start from Brooklyn Mall. Although it is the Moloto Road, there isn't much traffic , and plenty cyclists to help ICE

wolverine, he stays close to that epic bikeshop in bothalaan, so was thinking from there to fountains - but then what?

 

that bikeshop might have a roadie-ride in the mornings, i'll just phone them ... or the cyclelab is also in that area, they should have outrides as well? its just difficult because i have no idea at all about what our combined speed will be - we did almost exact same times on the 94.7, but that will depend very much on hopw stron his partner was there, on how strong the combination will be ... i guess a beginner-ride won't harm us

from fountains- up eeufees - into valhalla- through the plots- into rooihuiskraal- past jacaranda radio station- onto old jhb road towards echo park- through echo park into irene - back on to botha. that must be a good +50Km ride
