CRC order - waiting

my order has been sitting processing for  a week.... anyone else waiting?

 

Its strange because all items were in stock and they usually ship next day.

I did send a follow up email and got a reply saying they were very busy, but a week seems excessive....

Me too.  They say they have been inundated with orders.  I placed my order last week Monday morning.

Who-hoo.  My stuff is on the way.  I was reading a post where vaulter was maoning about out of stock items at CRC (a stem that they cancelled on his order.)

 

Well, I left a few pieces of my bike build out of the CRC order.  Some I am taking off my current bike, and some I would source locally.  I have spent a bit of time going from bike shop to bike shop to

1) Locate the items I am looking for;

2) Buy said items.

 

Nobody holds stock of a simple item which should be a realtively cheap option (i.e. BBB 160mm rotors).  No I managed to find Avid Rotors at R500 a pop.  (R280 @ CRC).  Did I buy them?  No.  I'll rather place another order.

 

I was offerred a special deal on some wheels.  (I won't mention the brand) but the LBS price was almost double more than I paid for a set of wheels that retail for less than the wheelset that I purchased.

 

Yes there has been a 3 week delay in shipping my new bike, but when I do the maths I have saved approximately R9000 on a R15k bike build.  (Excluding the parts that I already have)

 

So in total, on a bike that would have cost me close to R25k to build, I have spent R6k.

 

Having said this, ordinarily CRC orders take a week to arrive, so in most cases they are faster than the LBS's as well.

 

Use it, don't use it...

got my stuff on saturday (31st). Turns out there was ain issue with 2 derailers I ordered. They were in stock when I ordered but there was a subsequent problem. They replaced the derailer with similar as per my request, but only did it for one of the derailers - I ordered 2.

Between this and the high volumes - my order was only shipped 24th - ordered 13th.

A little annoyed, but overall I will order again. Hope the rest of you have your stuff!

As much as I love my regular bike shop, you just can't deny the value for money when you order from CRC. I picked up a pair of 2007 Eggbeater Candy SL's for under R400 in September. The local guys still wanted to charge me R1200 for the same 2007 models. So for the price that they wanted for just the pedals, I put together an order for the pedals, a stem and some lock-on grips, plus shipping. And I still had change left over for a few beers.

 

I still support my LBS for most of the smaller stuff though.

It seems they are getting through thier backlog now that the Jan Sale is over.

 

I placed a small order (shipped to a mate in UK) on the 21st. They shipped the same day.

 

I placed a bigger order on morning of Wed 26st, they shipped on the evening of the 27th. The package arrived in JHB on Thurs 29th and is now lurking around between here and there. Parcelforce website is hangng now...

At the moment CRC has very little stock. Everything I have tried to order is not available with no confirmed date of availability.

I have this feeling that due to the "current economic climate" (I hate that phrase), they will carry a lot less stock and that new stock will be way more expensive as the sterling is also under pressure.

i'm having the same issue....and it's been like that for weeks already!

I also ordered from CRC about 2 weeks ago. According to the Parcel Force website is was in SA in 3 days. It was then stuck at JHB International for 7 days!!! 

 

I agree with brianj - Parcelforce do not track it once it is here.

 

I bought my husband a Garmin Edge 705 (HR & Cadence) and only paid R3750, much cheaper than any local shop.
