guess you know the story about using deep heat between two bits of latex?Wink

No. Please give us the details. I'm learning stuff here...

it's the only way to find out if a johnny gets broken before it's too late. one of you is gonna scream and go off looking for a cold water tap?at a rapid paceWink

Does it have to be deep heat, or could I substitute it with Stan's or slime?

BTT if you get good quality liners and slime tubes you should have no problems. My liners look like they have been wrapped around a porcupine but the only stopping i do during a ride is to help others fix their punctures.

Maybe I could use a mixture. When you hear/feel the pssft-pssft-pssft it is kind of reassuring because you know if you keep going it is going to seal again and you do not have to stop and get off your ride there and then.

What's the cricket doing?

Oh, sorry, hijack on/off.

My findings

Tube with slime = FAIL

Tube with 1/2 bottle Slime + liners = FAIL

Tube with 1 bottle Slime + liners = PASS for 6months

Tubeless Observation on Rocky Rides = FAIL

Conclusion until someone irradicates the world of thorns or broken pieces of glass use a tube + Bottle of Slime + Liners else if you got the cash to waste and love a mess when you need to put a tube in anyway go tubeless...

If anybody would like to prove me wrong you are welcome to donate a Tubeless kit + Tyres to me and I will prove you wrong :-P

PS you are welcome to install it your way as well on my wheels

rad you tchop ........ we got 5 MTB's between me and LBB and 6 sets of wheels all tubeless and tubeless whips all that other stuff's arse anytime. Even a ghetto with slime other than Stan's or Joe's is better than all those liners and slime tubes and stuff Wink

You aren't a real MTBR till you have burst at least one tubeless conversion in your own garage/lounge/kitchen ....... LOL

On a serious note the only thing I would say is if you go tubeless rather use 'proper' tubeless tyres as their sidewalls are less prone to cuts (note less prone not immune to)

My 2 cents...i rode a year and a half with dr sludge tubes only (2 sets in that time and i only replaced set 1 cos i was paranoid). Then at Knysna last year I suppose i wasn't paranoid enough and the life of my 2nd set was gone i had unpleasant experiences...3 of them. So was teased that i didn't have tubeless. Got the ghetto conversion done and that worked OK for a while. Now with my proper tubeless tyres, rims, proper stans and what not and on the way to the start of the race yesterday, while riding on the tar i get a cut...so much for worry free race.

Basically...nothing is 100% and you should hope that you lucky and you don't get a puncture during a race...whatever method you've chosen...

How I wished for a  water leak proof kitchen today after the washing machine inlet pipe started leaking....
