Suff to carry for Sani2C / Epic..?

Saw a comment in a post earlier on today saying that one of biggest problems in the Epic is people overloading their camelbak...

This is what I'm considering carrying on the Sani2C - anybody got any (useful Smile ) comments?

Multitool (with tyre levers and chain tool)<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Tubeless repair kit

Inflator + two bombs

Pump

Two tubes (slimed)

Patch kit

Dropout

Dogbone (both bikes are iDrives)

Chain pins

Duct tape

Zip ties

Wet and dry lube

I suppse if it's looking wet, a windcheater type thing as well, as well as suntan spray and some form of ass sports lube (bluesteel or something)...

Are two tubes overkill?

Should we split stuff up between us e.g. one multitool, one dropout, etc..?

I would for sure split the tools amongst the 2 of you. We did that at SabieX. Doesn't make a huge difference but doesn't make sense both carry multitools, pumps, lube, duct tape, patch kit etc. BigBen2009-02-09 06:13:59

Would split the load amongst the two of you. Just make sure you have the light stuff and your partner has the heavy stuff. If youy are running tubeless two tubes to many (says he that had four punctures on Day 2 Sani)

You will definitely need a cooler box.

I would also put in a set of brake pads. Wet and dry lube is an overkill. Take one.

If your bikes are the same just take one dropout.

i would be self suffient in terms of anything punture related.

I'd share a multi-tool & take one lube whilst riding.

I suggested this 'cos I never carry any lube (lube up well with squirt  before the race) and always kick myself when I'm slogging thru' mud, chainsucking like hell, wishing I had some wet lube...

You gonna be doing all the towing and pushing! wait, that sounds too bad, I don't want to give you any ideas, seeing we spooning in a tent together.

Do you have to carry your own energy bars and food or is there enough food on the race?

Nope, there is more than enough food at the various refreshment tables.

What types of food do they have, and what can you expect for breakfast and dinner?

Food at water points last year included hot chips, fruit, buns, burgers, and more. You'll need to carry GUs if you use them . I carried a small pack of energy drink powder, which I mixed about half distance at a water point.

Meals at breakfast and dinner were awesome (lunch too). Lots to choose from and really tasty. No queues. There's no need to bring anything extra. We also had a big supply of milk products from Clover and tankers with drinking water.

If you don't usually use gel or energy bars leave them behind.  There is plenty to eat and drink at the tables - even a Nando's burger half way through day 2.  At camp food is more than adequate for stuffing your face.

Bring lots of duct tape - you can never have too much.
