EGGBEATERs

lighter, mud shedding is tops, real easy bearing rebuild with kits for R150. great float thats knee friendly but doesnt clip out, even on rough downhills.  They come in cool colours as well.  They offer you 3 different ways to clip in and you can clip in anywhere on the pedal, you dont hasve to flip it around first

Eggbeater cons:

Only one so far and don't really matter. the clipinpart on the pedal start eating you shoe sole after a while, but like I said, nothing hectic.

Eggbeaters all the way!

Can also buy the Eggbeater C's for I think R550 odd and then buy the upgrade kit = Ti Spindels for R1200 odd = end result is a 218g pedal for R1800 odd bucks.

Saw these' date=' but according to reviews the setup soundsa mission to get right. Not as adjustable as the Time's[/quote']

the setup between the Eggbeaters and the Looks are the same. I tried the two right after each other. I found that because the outside soles of my shoes were worn down and bit it did not make contact with the side contact points of the Eggbeaters and my feet would rock from side to side. Not the case with looks. The Eggbeaters were without any spacers so I could not get the cleats closer.

Crank Brother just launched a new Eggbeater

It fits between the Eggbeater C and the Eggbeater S.

It has the Eggbeater C axle and the Eggbeater S body

- called the Eggbeater SC

also consider the Crank Brothers Candy pedals, the are normally about the same price as the equivalent Eggbeater. They have a greater contact area and only weigh about 25-30g more.

I have been riding eith time pedls for the past eight years, finished 1 pair of atac alu's. The shape of the new time pedals are better than the previous ones and this should be better on the shoes. If you look at the mavic shoes they give a nice copper plate with your shoes to protect them. Durablity wise I will go with time. Have heard good thing about the look quartz as well.
