dual sus on bike carrier

Due to the geometry of the dual sus I cannot fit it onto my bike carrier. I remember I have seen a device that attach between your seat post and stem. Anybody know about this or have ideas on how to transport this thing?

yea yea I know - you are supposed to ride it but hey sometimes a man must do what a man must do Big%20smile

A friend has the 08 Raleigh Marathon which rules out conventional carriers. He opted for the towbar mount Thule, works well. I opted for thule roof racks, can be dangerous.

Where are you? If you're in CT, load and go in Bree st or Olympic in Claremont will sort you out, otherwise look for a Thule distributor.

The Thule one is ***! I had one by Hold fast, It has a very secure clamp which screws toit to the seatpost and to the Stem with one of those big pastic knobs. I gave this one to my Brother inlaw( he stays out of town) as I tought I would just replace it.

Then I found out They dont make them anymore.

No offense, but the one by thule clips in like a caribina, It doesnt clamp onto the bike at all, Unfortunately I am not hanging my Pride and joy by that. I cant figure out why someone doesnt make a better one?? I meen FS bikes are becomming more and more common, and most of them dont fit on bike racks. Except the thule one which it  basically stands on, but they are very expencive

Those ride-on racks are worth every overpriced cent... As far as the bike hangers go, I've never had to use one smiley4.gif , I just know they exist.

There is an adapter available from some bike shops that fit onto your regular towbar fitted rack. It's basically a metal tube with rotating "hooks" on the ends which can fit around wheels, sections of sloping top or down tubes etc.

I use it for my 4yr old's bike which have weird angles on the frame. You get the adapters in different sizes. lenghts etc.

Works like a charmWink

The Holdfast one works really well. Believe it or not it is known as a "ladies bracket".

What Mountain bike do you have.

The Thule carrier which fits on the towbar and which consists of two "arms" on which you hang the bikes works with "most" full suspension bikes. Works on my Marin.

I ride a Rocky mountain Element(rear shox at the top of the top tube) and use a Thule 3 bike tow mounted rack, thought i was going to need a new rack but as it turns out if you push the one side of the racks straps together and put the bike on so that the top rear triangle chainstays rest on the 2 mounts at the back and the top tube rests just in front of the rear shox it works hundreds!!!

I have noticed that some okes put the one arm of the Thule "hanging" rack through the frame at the corner of the seat and top tube, and then put the other arm in the corner between the down tube and fork, as in below the down tube. Have you tried that?

If I had the need and budget for an expensive carrier it would without a doubt be something the bike stands on, wheels in, rather than hangs from by the top tube.

By the way' date=' where are you ? I have 2 of them. [/quote']

I'm in snorcity east. I had a look at the Thule 'ride on' carriers but was really shocked at the price. I'm sure they are worth the money (R6K) and seems much more convenient than the hanger type but I can do a nice upgrade on my bike for that money.

The Ride-on G5 (i think that what it's called) is about 6k, but the ride-on 2 is only (!) about 2.5k. Check it out, as I said earlier the're well worth it.

Forgive me if I don't know where "snorcity" is. I am in Pretoria East. PM me if you are interested in one of them.
