Johan A Marais Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 It so easy to Rant & Rave, but let's also share some good stories... <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Yesterday afternoon on my way home cycling from CPT at the Dolphin Beach turn-off where motorists usually just shoot left without taking an care of a cyclists that might want to go straight, a chap in a bakkie (small white Bantam or Mazda) nearly dislocate his neck to see where I was and if he has allowed enough space for himself to ensure my safety! Great attitude Dude and much appreciated!!

HAd a similar one the other day where a lady was clearly in two minds about whether to passme or not before turning left. I signalled to her that I had seen her and for her to go. Thanked me with a nice smile and wave. No telephone number though. Nice to see a positive thread for a change.
VTSKING Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Drove back from gym yesterday morning (in my car) I needed to turn right at the intersection. There were two roadies approaching from the front. I signaled my intention to turn and was waiting for them to cross. As soon as they realized I was waiting for them to cross, both of them signaled that they were actually also going to turn right (their left). x1 Happy driver and x2 polite cyclists. Cheers guys.

Usually a pizza or a wrap at my uncle's house (unless Mommy dearest and myself decide to get takeouts and treat the uncle.) Thanks for reminding me - I need to warn him I dont eat cream or red meat!!

Last week my mate and I were riding through Constantia (we were not single file) anda taxi drove up behind us and politely blipped his hooter (believe it or not) so we moved across in single file. As he came past I waved and got a flick of the hazards from him! This morning I was on my way back home, approaching a traffic circle. I could hear a car behind me. The driver seemed reluctant to pass me, so I waved him past. He drove round me with smiles and waves all round. As I've said on one of these threads - if each of us makes small gestures we can only improve the driver-cyclist relationship.
