A Hospital close by. waterval boven, then not sure about the closest hospital, though.lots & lots of singletrack built by a master.fast flowing singletrack through forests, stunningly beautiful rides right on the rim with jumps and chickenruns, technical downhills, fast downhills, climbs, singletrack, hiking paths, some bridges to cross fences, a rivercrossing or 2, a four-cross-track-to-be - heck even the boring old dirtroad up to tranquilitas and slaaihoek is interesting after rain.
jagwil Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 You don't want to know about the hospital in Waterval Boven. My son Growler was there a few years back with a broken arm. (hang gliding accident). There is NO resident doctor. The doctor on call from the next town refused to come out. The strongest pain killer they had was Penado. We went out (at high speed) to fetch him and bring him back to Pretoria East for treatment. I think you would actually rather die than end up at that hospital.

Just warning, after the ride you most probably will change your mind of the best one day ride?. it's on my list and i think you might - the 3 hours from Jhb thing means none of my rides count though!

My top 3Non race ride - Sani Pass - yes non technical, but you realise how much trust you place in your brakes when you pick up speed coming down Race ridesSabi X day 2 climbing up to 2200m (asl) in 40kmSani 2 C day 2 Heard only good things about Mankele - wil try it at some point in 2009
Borriz Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Forgot to mention Alpine Heath route. Don't think it is an official MTB route, but the climb at one point is so damn nice and technical. I'll spend R3000 for a weekend just to go and do it again.
