with an allen key on the inside of the cranks. Remember one of them is threaded the wrong way. It means that you can not use the "lefty loosy, righty tighty" method. I think it is "left is right but the right is wrong"

what pedals are they?

some have an allen key which you loosen/tighten from the inside (through the hole in the crank)

others,, you can just loosen with a wrench (size 13 I think?Confused)

just check the direction in which you turn them,, for the righthand side pedal you turn it clockwise to tighten it (anticlockwise to take them off)

and the lefthand one is the other way round! ( clockwise to take it off)

before you start you might want to spray some Q20 or something on the thread,, cause they can stick sometimes!

No, the wrench is a size 15 and the one on the right of your bike has right hand thread, the one on the left has left hand thread.

Of you face the bike from the side, put the wrench on the pedal shaft so that the loose end points up.  Then turn the loose end towards the rear of the bike.  This always works for loosening...

Get a proper pedal spanner 15 and turn the spanner against your pedal stroke otherwise you'll just end up tightening it.

There will either be wrench flats on the axle between the pedal and the crank, or place for an allen key on the end of the axle on the inside of the crank arm.

The pedals have opposite threads - the right / drive side is a normal thread (anticlockwise to loosen) and the left / NDS as a left hand thread (clockwise to loosen).

no hole for an allen key... they are just normal pedals. on the outside of the pedal there is a round plastic thing. cant get it out/off..is it suppose to come off??? on the cranck side there is a thing that looks like it can fit into a spanner...i'll try that tonight...

For us non lefty / right / clockwise / anticlockwise people, If you stand with the back wheel between your legs pull the spanner towards you for both pedals...

Its great fun and if you do it right, you only strip your knuckles once. Prepare a list of expletives in advance, as it would be terrible to run out and have to start repeating them during a tirade.

That thing what looks like it fits into a spanner is a wrench flat. A 15 spanner will do the trick, and try not to skin your knuckles on the chainring smiley18.gif

No, don't try and loosen it on the outside of the pedal. There should be a flat part where the pedals attaches to the crank arm.

wahahaaaaaa stripping your knuckles is a prerequisite!! You haven't done it properly if you aren't bleeding. Impaling yourself on the big blade counts extra points!

Expect to rotate the cranks backwards at least 5 times before you get the right leverage!LOL
