Hi There All

Need to ask a question & i hope someone can answer me. I quite fancy the Maxxis larcen TT's however im not tubeless.

Question is: Can i still buy these tyres & fit them to my rim with tubes. Ive looked on Maxxis' website & i see you get 2 different flavours. Fold up & Wired.

Now im assuming that i would have to get the wired tyres then ????

Please help !!

there are tubeless and non-tubeless versions. my advice though is not to buy larssens. they suck.

Hi Roller, why do you say that? I'm curious because I have just fitted a set...Confused

They dont handle wet very well. If you are mainly doing dry hardpack and some rocky stuff you will be fine. They actually handle hardpack nicely. As soon as it gets slightly wet they clog up immediately and slip all over the place.

Yes Holly.. I'm on my third set, and not a foot wrong yet. So what seems to be the problem?

like dirtbreath said, they clog up quickly in mud and clay. i also find them unnerving under aggressive cornering as they often loose their purchase. seriously, i think it's the worst tyre i've ever put on a bike.

Holly' date=' I did my rain ride on them and it was beatiful. So maybe you need some more skill? Or are you a roadie?[/quote']

Thanks Roller, must say haven't given them a go in the wet, will pray for some rain and give them stick!

What would be the ideal wet / dry tyre then for changing race conditions?

I am on my second set of Kenda Nevagals UST on Crossmax SL's with 50/50 OKO and Stans snot.

I ride mainly sandy/rocky/thorny bushveldt and they grip like the bees knees.

When it gets wet they shed quite quickly and have found them to be a good all rounder.

Well if I can help.

theres actually About 5 different tyre threads on the Tech Q & A side. read through them. TT's Are quite similar to crossmarks although I beleve they are a bit better(crossmarks)

In the south It never rains in summer, And the soil is very corse/asphalt like so One dont need "wet " tires really, Even in winter as theres always grip on this surface. Anyway. ASk yourself how much wet stuff will you see. And If thats not much then ask yourself If you want to haul a slower rolling tire around 80% of the time to make the 20 % wet 10% faster.Big%20smile

Having said that. I do know the soil is more clay like and slimy when wet op by you guys..
