The proper way.....

Hi all

I know it's some time since I started cycling to ask this question, but I gave it some thought while washing my cycling vest this morning.....

What is the proper way to wash your cycling kit?

I've been hand washing my clothes with washing powder in cold water.

Is this correct, or can you wash with hot water?

Also, is there a difference in washing of my bib's and shirts?  Eg:  Can I say wash my shirts with hot if I cannot wash my bib with hot water?

Please advise.....

J

Only cold water as the stuff is basically made from plastic. Machine wash on a gentle cycle and WITHOUT softener. Never tumble dry.

shirts go in the washing machine...they aren't delicate. My shorts are hand washed in very warm water with washing powder. Neither go in the clothes dryer, they are hung on the line to dry.fiasm2009-03-16 23:45:20

my shirts & shorts go in washing machine, short cycle (pardon the pun), water at 40 degrees and then air-dry indoors.

no problem.

only no-no is tumble dryer and direct sunlight Thumbs%20Down

Machine wash on 'delicates' with cold water. No softener.

Hang to dry inside out - NEVER tumble dry

I ride in the sun, so I dont mind the sun drying my clothes...

Okay... I am a bachelour... What is the problem with softener? Does this mean I can save on my Staysoft bill?

I do machine wash, spin, air dry

And try not wash your gloves or anything with velcro on it at the same time as your shirts or shorts.... The velcro can stick and pull strands...

Moderate amount of staysoft is not a problem.
