I found it quite amazing how simple a basic service is and my fork will never see the inside of a bike shop again.

That's 'cause you don't have a Marzocchi! LOL

Found a defect in my fork during the workshop. So now I'm forked. I can get replacement parts, but was planning on replacing the fork anyway. Cool workshop and learned a few things from Johan. Will service my own fork in future, just wouldn't want to service forks for a living. Planning on attending the wheel building workshop in the near future as well.

The course was great, even better that my fork still works! Never trust my own workmanship. Once you see the inner workings of the fork it makes a whole lot more sense, especially how not to clean it between rides!

Plus I learnt how to transport my fork with the level of safety it deserves LOL.

So... Tomorrow a week and it's on in Cape Town for the Fork Maintenance Course...

Show of hands who's all going? Tongue

And who has access to a weather-way-in-advance service?

What's it going to be doing on Friday the 15th - will it be weather fit for beer - or Tassies/OBS?

Oh... Embarrassed wait a minute - JB, what's your policy on drinking and tinkering? Smile

Five guys have confirmed in cash. I have many promises still. I can't tell you what their nicknames are 'cause I'm confused. I only have real names on my spreadsheet and can't reveal those.

As for the question regarding the type of tipple for the weather. I won't state my policy publicly, but have a look at the list of tools required.

Tools Required<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Bucket or drain pan

Paper towels and/or rags

Plastic faced mallet

Frosty Beverage

Torque wrench

Measuring container with cc or ml increments

Fork oil

80wt gear oil for lubricating seals.

26mm 6-point socket

13mm Spanner

10mm socket

2mm <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas:contacts" />allen key

1,5mm allen key

Flat blade screwdriver

Hacksaw - maybe

Mariuis, the tool list is not intended for studying.  It was merely a list with an excuse for including line 4. Guys on the course will get a good explanation of everything required.

Also, I don't have you on my list and therefore I wouldn't have communicated with you. Please send me a mail with your details to johanatyellowsaddledotcodotzedA and I'll correspond.

I find it extremely difficult to match nicknames with real names and I have no way of knowing whether John Jones on my list is actually Superman on the Hub and vice versa.

Johan' date=' is your workshop going to come to Durban??[/quote']

I can't see why not. In the last year I've travelled from Gaberone to Cape Town, via the Free State to KZN, sadly only going as far as Botha's hill for a class I did prior to the 2008 Amashova.

I'm prepared to do a class in Durban but I would need a few people to commit before I come down. Start a new thread and lets see what interest there is.
