When did they come out with upside down forks? mid 90's? Reason Im asking this cause Im trying to see if the mtb development is far behind or close to MX development.

if anything, mtb is ahead of mx. i read an article in the latest dirt, they had an interview with bob fox from fox racing shocks, and he said that they use lots of technology form mtb in the mx stuff. very interesting article.

Interesting, I find it hard to think that way but Im sure it can be true and vice versa. So would you for example have mid-stroke harshness and for the top riders would you set your race sag on the rear and does oil heights and oil weights along with internals make a difference?

yes, they play around with shim stacks etc to give different dampening through the shock stroke. i dont realy have a clue how it all works, but there is a lot to it. here in the uk there is a guy, tim flooks, who have a suspension tuning company. he would be the best to ask about the tech stuff. http://www.tftuned.com/

absalon didnt use x.x this weekend as far as i know. he had the x.x brakes but stuck with x.0 rear mech and grip shifts. the seven/kenda team had x.x on the drivetrain.
