I can't believe these guys!!!

I rode the Wilro this weekend on a tandem and got a DNF (my tandem

stoker got his time, though).

So I emailed CC. Nothing. So I emailed again. The response was from

a lady(?) Sue who asked for the info in my email (obviously didn't

bother to read it) and how I mounted my chip.

I stated it was on my ankle and I made sure my ankle was down as

I went over the line.

The response was that this was "incorrectly" mounted and I would not

get a result. Only chips mounted on CC mounts are accepted as correctly

mounted.

Where does that **** come from? The closest is at:

http://www.championchip.co.za/php/faq.php?ID=8

and no where does it state that they refuse to deal with you if

you don't. How about that for a one sided deal and **** the customer?

It wasn't printed on the paper I got with my CC (yep - I STILL

have it!!!).

I stated that CC can miss chips due to speed or interference even if

correctly mounted and this was ignored. Apparently if CC misses your

chip it's your fault entirely!

When I stated I was on a tandem (same race number and start group as

my stoker on their Web site) and it would be easy to fix the result, the

reply was a polite "f*** off".

I've had problems with CC and WT before. CC have always been a bit

dodgy and WT have bent over backwards to help, but it looks like

CC are plumbing new depths with crappy customer service.

I have emailed Colin Hecter.

I wonder if I'll get a reply?

I think there's something seriously wrong with cycling in South Africa. Maybe it's a case of too many Chiefs and not enough Indians? On the chip side there's CC and WT, both of which I've noticed people complain about. Trying to buy a license from CycleSA is an exercise in patience which I'm failing horribly... there's the complaints against MyRace that go on and on.... it seems like cycling in South Africa is a bit of a disaster area. Granted I'm a newby at all this... but honestly it seems more trouble than its worth!

Just my 2c

Can't agree - I'm afraid.

WT are improving and are really prepared to help you. CSA is also

sorting its act out (not there yet, but considering where they've come

from...).

It's just a disappointment to come across a "service" provider who is

going backwards as rapidly as CC seem to be doing...

Perhaps I still too new, but I can only go by my own experiences with CyclingSA and what I read and am told by others, and if I'm wrong I'll be the first to apologise... but it does seem like nothing but gripes! Hope they sought you out though.

Had exactly the same problem last year during the carousel race.

Was on a tandem and only my partner got an official time. After several mails to and fro (the lady Sue) I had to pay 50 bucks to get an official time.

Does not help to argue or be nice to this lady..... Their policy (no where posted) states that if the chip is not mounted on a CC bracket you have no hope in hell.

Yep - as I stated, it's still a mess (to a degree), but compared to the good

ol' days, it is improving!!! So it's a point of view thing...

Wink

I think the current guys are trying, so we need to give them some time...

She's rather smug and arrogant, so I think it'd be easier to bash

my head against a brick wall.

Their policy does not however, ANYWHERE, state that if you have

incorrectly mounted your chip that they refuse to help you. They just

state that chips should be correctly mounted...

They just turn around when you ask for help and tell you to piss

off!

So how are you supposed to prove that your chip is mounted on the bracket-or do they send the Chip Bracket Police to check the forensic evidence?? Confused

I thought about that and decided to be honest. Looks like

honesty doesn't pay with CC... Cry

In defence of CC, they are very good with getting results up. Past sunday , it was up within 3/4 hours after the race. I was impressed with that.

WT/Racetec - takes forever, if youre lucky they have it up by monday morning

But I know that's not what you want to hear.

What crap about the mounting of the chip, why do they supply it with a velcro strap then???????????

I see lotsa people wearing it around the ankles.

Also had a problem with CC. My chip stopped working after I only used it once. I took it back to them and they charged me R120 for a new one.

I wasn't even given this option - I was just told to piss off...
