Prevention is better than cure and the best way to stop the growth of fungus is to rince the bladder after riding and then put it in the deep freeze.

The fungus needs warm, wet conditions and cannot grow in sub-zero temperature.

If I have any electrolyte left in my camelback then i just leave it in the fridge overnight. Nothing has happened to my bladder in the last 2 years.

The big thing to remember is to clean it out striaght away afetr use, especially if you are not going to use it the next day. Bend the pipe double and shove it inside the bladder so that air can circulate through it. That way there should be no fungus/bacteria build up inside.

It all comes down to good cleaning and hygiene.

As for the jik story. If you rinse the bladder thoroughly with clean water it should not taste like jik. I often put jik in my water bottles and have never had a jik taste on my next ride.
