I am going to Buy a bike this weekend (My first proper bike) I have increased my avaliabe funds from R8K to R11K just coz I want happy with the options I Had out there for a bike. After some hours shopping these are the 3 I have narrowed down to. The Silverback from what I have read has the better components all round, the Merida is apparently a better knowen brand and the mongoose has basic components but is a FS,

All of this is the very limited knowledge of a nooby

So If I have said something wrong or incorrect here please correct me and give me your idea on what you would Buy

I was also in no way worried about riding a preloved bike but I am still very slow on the uptake and seem to miss all the decent bikes up for grabs I havent bought yet so there is still the option for preowned

I also looked at 2nd bikes but am very hesitant to do such a deal especially if you dont  know the person. Too many lies get told so am rather opting out for paying new and get the warrenties etc epscially considering that the hub on my last bike packed up after 900 km.

Took it to an LBS close to work and was told tht it would cost me between R 800.00 and R 1 600.00 to fix - said no way and took it back to CWC who sent it to the agent and the did not just replace the hub but the whole back wheel.

Long and short of it  - Mongoose gave me awesome back up so am taking delivery new Otero Super this weekend

Just do some homework. I know a few people who have cracked multiple merida and mongoose carbon frames (dont know if those you mentioned are) and this not through any misuse!
