Hi there, don't kow if this has been discussed before,

But i would like to know if it is possible to take it from 80mm to 100mm.

How would i do it? Would it be worth it? or must i rather look at a 100mm shock?

Please assist, thanx

Hi there, Ask you r bike shop, Im not sure if you can can have a spacer taken out. some forks describe the travel on the model like this 80/100/115 others are U-turn and others are pre set.

As far as I know the first one, is able to change travel by removing/adding spring.

Bottom line, Ask your bikeshop Big%20smile

If you are on a HT what do you need 100mm for?

Remember that the frame geometry will change as soon as you extend the fork travel.

i am on a HT, but on some technical sections i bottom out.

I am aware of the geometry change. Will see if it makes a huge difference.

Would you suggest, after i make it 100mm i remove some of the headset spacers. ?

Or should i make the compression a bit harder?

By 1/2 a degree perhaps.  He wont even know the difference! More is always better.Big%20smile

I changed my RS Team from 100 to 115mm, by taking it apart and taking out a spacer.

Not sure if the Race has the same setup.

Took me about 2 hrs using a service manual I download from the website.

Leon I asked JB about converting my Recon SL to a Reba and this is what he told me, might help answer your questions:

Most forks swap from 100 to 80 and back via the re-arrangement of spacers inside. It's a little bit like a stem - put the spacers on top or underneath.

Then, you can upgrade the Recon from solo air to dual air, which requires a new piston and some other hardware. There's your Reba. Next question: How much will it cost? I don't know. But I do know that just the aircap on a Reba is R180-00, so I shudder to thank what an entire set of pistons will cost, with their new compression shaft - R1800 perhaps?

thanx. for all this feedback,

I am taking it to Jason at Grant Cycles.

Some guys told me he is good with shocks servicing and reworking them

Will post once done, to give some feedback.

yes, you should just increase air pressure.
