That "Petrus se Brand" singletrack is awesome! About 4km long with lots of twists, turns and mostly downhill too!

Yes, the epic guys will remember that photo, you come down a nice downhill, hit a stream (still in big or middle blade.... and *bang"... you should be in granny gear to get up there,... next best option is..you walk.

I havnt dont the 85 km race the last 2 years (yes I was pansy) but It seems every year as winter hits I start surfing and stop training.

 

I grew up in Knysna so I know the area very well. We live about 500m from where that last singletrack(yes that one where many people will crash again) comes out.

Yeah, pity!!  I think it is the amount of entries that prevents much singletrack action....especially in the 50km race.

Imagaine 3 -4000 cyclist converging onto a piece of single track? Not fun for anyone, I recon.

 

It still good ride with a good vibe all weekend.

That is one of the most sought after pieces of earth in knysna

 

I didnt race last year and stood there for pics, You should have seen the lead motorbikes come down there, that was hillarious, the one guy crashed his GS1200 and in doing so his front brake had locked against the knuckle guard( he only founf that out after putting it down 3 more times).

He was wheelspinning with his front wheel locked and the marshalls whent "bos" as the first riders started comming down.. haha, It was chaos!!

That fast singletrack before this is way more scary though(if you can keep off the breaks) I have been chased down there by Jacues from the LBS (knysna cycle works) at 59km/h...on rocky half invisible singletrack. try that at the race
