I don't greet "bokwagters en spietkops" But I've seen roadies turning their heads away if you try to greet them. Maybe we are to botch for them?

Roadies will never greet first (I don't even want to get started on riders from THAT club), if you're a runner, you're even lower than snake poo. Mounties are a lot friendlier.

This whole greeting thing is a load of crap.  If you want to greet someone then do so - don't expect a response and don't be offended if you don't get one.  I don't think any of the three groups mentioned (roadies, MTBers, runners) are more/less friendly, nor does one or the other greet any more frequently.  Runners seldom greet cyclists of any description, because cyclists generally ride too close to them and they are too busy feeling uncomfortable - plus there is no kinship.  Either way, the only time I take offense is when someone gets offensive for lack of greeting.  I sometimes greet, but it is not a consistent thing, when I am on my MTB or when I am running or on the road.  BTW - if you are riding your MTB on the road then it is a road bike, it only becomes an MTB if you use the footpaths or trails.

some people are riding hard and dont look at others on the side, in the gutter or side fixing a puncture...not thier fault for riding hard and not wasting precious energy waving haha

so when they taking a chilled ride and they wave and yo are lets say time trialing in that position is not that fun to keep changing position to wave at everyone...like giving 2 rand to every begger you see its impossible!

Roadies that greets mounties are actually closet mounties - wishing they had mountain bikes.

Mounties that don't greet are actually closet roadies - still think riding your bike is about racing

Runners should be on the other side of the road - therefore shouldn't be hit by cyclist - but I've never encounter non-greeting runners. So I still like them.

My 10cents - fit bar ends and flick a finger as gesture. If the other guys greets or not then you only moved a finger! :-)

Some of us however burn that and still greet the dirty ones!
