Second that. We had some clot track rider, Michael Oosthuysen, chucking gu wrappers in the provincial champs this weekend. I asked him really nicely not to. He said, 'But they slow me down'. Clown.

.......same goes for the idiots who 3 weeks ago raced through a bunch of zebras at Groenkloof!!!!   I wished that a wildebees stuck a horn or two through his left leg - bike and then the right leg :-( :-(

Yep, agreed.

Mostly MTB riders tend to be a pretty responsable and cool bunch but there are a few pillocks around who think they can litter or frighten the wild life and its fine.

Maybe a quick dab of pepper spray might help them remember that its not fine.

Using gels @ "flat Northern Farms". It emphasises just what type of mountain bikers they are... And then to not just put the wrappers in their pockets??? SAD Thumbs%20Down

Ten out of ten for those who do keep it clean though...

Using gel on a training ride shows taht they should be doing more training in the first place.  Performance enhancers are to enhance performance (ie during races), training is to build muscles.  If you take gels on a training ride you are either too rich or to lazy to train properly.  Real food and coffee are used during training.  (and they taste better as well).

Hey its ball that we have people like this riding and giving the rest of us a bad name. I have a stupid question that maybe someone could shed some light.

Was out riding with a friend on Sat in Pta. We was riding from his house to Groenkloof do a few laps around there then back home. On the way we passed  a few runners, we both greeted them , not one of them botherd to say Hi and they was running 3 a breast in the road.

Are all runners like this??? Oh are cross country runners more friendly just like us mtb riders???

Agreed, gel is for races not training. I only use gel in a hard race not in all of them.

Runners used to be the friendliest of them all.  That is until motorcars and road cyclists started to harrass them.  That coupled to final preparation for comrades have left them all edgy, like a cat on caffiene.

Cross country guys are so fast you don't even see them in the bushes, so no use even waving.

There has been a trend that MTBkers have lost their friendly disposition, but that might just be all the roadies becoming Mtbkers.  Research still pending on that.

Obviously geographic location counts a lot. Under the shadows of table mountain friendliness and being stoned amount to the same.  In PE they are really very very friendly (don't say they not).  In Jhb you have to pay to get the time of day.  In PTA the large amount of civil servants results in people being friendly, because chatting sure beats work any day.

No, not all runners are like that. I first started out running and a lot of times i would greet cyclists and they would not greet back.

Suppose it depends on the person and not the sport.
