Damn the Shova looks awesome! Def trade my Trance for it. So what u guys think about if they made 29er versions?

29'er bike needs to be designed from scratch. Are there any trail bike 29'ers out there? Too many bike co's are simply changing their current designs to slap on a bigger set of wheels. Lets hope if Morewood goes there that they will do a brand new design.

Here's my Shova, my first M'wood and I love it.

Living in England you don't see Morewoods out and about very often so its nice to see all of yours!!

I'm dreaming of building up a Zula in the future.

Nice bike and dog ... I like the way you got the dogs collar and dog tag to colour code the bike :)

So here's my Morewood after literally years of gathering, rebuilding once or twice - it is now complete!!! Thanks to all who made it possible, but espcially Flipper for the goodies! It all started in the end of 06 with the fork that stood on the top shelf of the cupboard staring at me for a year. But once the frame was sorted it all kind of fell into place....over time.

Build:

Morewood Shova 08

Fox Racing Shox RP23 & Float X

X9 rear mech & shifter

Shiman Hone Cranks with Stainless On One front 32t ring & MRP 1X XC guide

Red Novatec hubs on Mavic 819's

2.35 Maxxis X-Mark rear & 2.35 WTB Prowler SS front

Race Face Deus XC Stem (chrome) & post

Funn Full On 750mm Bars

Charge Spoon Saddle in Tan

Formula Oro k24's with 180 rotors

Odi Lock on's

Man I love my bike.....

MoreTrails I dig your Shova. Nice saddle...where did you find that? (UK?)

I am in the unfortunate position of being in between medium and large sizes for the Shova...as I'm 5'10" the Medium is too cramped and the Large just too big.

Saw some bling Morewood Zulas at Jonkershoek (Stellenbosch) yesterday.

Medium with a setback seatpost?

Medium with a setback seatpost?

Did a quick ride on a medium Shova with Easton setback seatpost, felt ok...but if I'm going to spend that much coin I want the RIGHT fit!

If Patrick Morewood recommended a setback seatpost I would think about it...

The medium Shova has an effective top tube of 580mm, the large 610mm.

Some bike manufacturers have a size that fits those unfortunates stuck in the nomansland between medium and large, just wish the Morewood Shova was one of them.....

I'm 5'9 and rode a Med Shova and Mbuzi. Demo'ed a Large Mbuzi and have spend some time on a Large Shova and with some set up tweaks you can get away with a Large.

At your height I'd go with the Large. Where do you ride, what type of riding do you do and what cockpit are you palnning on running?

Yeah a mate of mine got me one in Glasgow. Last one on the rack. fits like a glove...

I am about a similar height (178cm to be exact) so the medium bike should be ok. Then again, between the 2008 and 2009 models they refined the geometries and made the mediums more compact. Have you tried a 2009 or 2010 large frame?

Maybe look at a second hand 08 frame with the longer top tube?

I enjoy Tokai singletrack, any technical singletrack actually.

My current cockpit is Easton bars 685mm wide with 85mm stem, would like to go for something similar.

Current bike's top tube 590mm and I run a Truvativ setback seatpost.

Thanks for the advice.

My saddle is an SDG Bel Air of the same colour...

Haven't tried a 2009 or 2010 Large but that would make sense with a shorter stem.

Wouldn't like to resort to a long stem and setback seatpost just to make a medium fit me.

Also hesitant to buy a second hand Shova as most of them have been ridden HARD!

Good advice, thanks!
