I'll give Lance Armstrong's fans this: they know how to count to seven. Beyond that, however, they're rather like members of a cult who refuse to accept that there could even be such a thing as another way of looking at matters, let alone the idea that there might be some merit to that alternative view.

Fail to see what is so great about it, the twit of a writer/journalist/troll that wrote it destroys any credibility with his rocketscientest statement in his opening para if you read his my previous post on armstrong.

"Among the plethora of things I hold against Lance Armstrong is the way that his story - no matter how inspiring and heroic and extraordinary it has been - has accentuated the English-language press's belief that there's only one bike race of any importance each year. Apparently it's the Tour de France first, the rest nowhere. This is irritating."

Seems like the twit is confusing armstrong with some of his own counterparts.

I much prefer this article(ok' date=' its an interview) about Lance Armstrong:

Unfortunately most Armstrong fans wont read anything but the first line so they will never learn the real truth. [/quote']

The truth?

Unfortunately most people are only interested in part of the truth (usualy that which suites them most at the time)

How about the whole truth and nothing but the truth?? Wink

Yip your probably right, hopefully one day it will be proved in a manner that will solve this debate once and for all.

Also probably applies to 1000's of other professional sportspersons who also deny taking any performance enhancers if asked.

How many of the super 14 rugby players or _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (insert your famous sporting heros name) do you think would test positive if the UCI had to arrive at their hotel on Saturday morning with scissors, syringes and sample bottles in tow?

Yet we treat them like heroes

The world likes a scapegoat.

I agree 110% but the rest dont make such a fuss and bother about themselves. Hey as long as he is sleeping ( on those expensive silk pillows) at night that is all that matters.

Most of the time it's the press (like in HR's OP) that make the fuss

Hope he doesn't sleep all night, has to wake up to go n pee, do a few press ups, good for the circulation.

to quote JAck Nicholson is a few good men:

"the truth,.....you can't handle the truth...."Wink

or David Icke

"the truth shall set you free"

add on the Saffa,

"unless you are a criminal then it shall put you in prison"

add on the new souf effrikan

"unless you are famous, rich or a politican, then  it can only imsult the chattering class and enhance your reputation"

but some of your new friends might want to kill you as dead as Kebble.

He only wakes up when his heart rate monitor warns him that his heart rate has dropped below 20.

Lances ability to win 7 Tours pales in comparison to his ability to polarise people!

People love him blindly or hate him blindly - I have yet to hear a balanced opinion on Lance - apparently he's either permanerntly doped to the gills or the innocent scapegoat of a french conspiracy...nothing in between...

Massie certainly is correct, LA is perhaps the greatest TDF rider, but certainly not the best rider the world has ever seen. Merckx won just about every race he tried, so as far as versatility goes he leads by a long way.
