Each time I mention on The Hub how I battle to get this or that bearing or, to find bearings at a reasonable price, I have dozens of suggestions, smouse and supposed sources. I'd like to put you all to the test.

I won't tell you what it's off since I want to avoid bike shops crying to their agents that an amateur is working on one of their products and they should cut off his supply and, send out FUD and threats of void gaurantees.

Of course I've tried BearingMan and all the local bearing shops.

I'm looking for the following:

Designation:                    Dimensions.

71902      LLB                                         28 x 15 x 7mm

6006      (HFR Prefix, irrelevant I think)  26 X 15 X 7mm

15245    F ( I think)                                24 x 15 x  5mm

If you can source these in Jhb, I'll be grateful, and only slightly less grateful if outside Jhb.

 Edited with Alpha values.

Well the I took out a 71902 bearing which came out of one of my wheel hubs and looking at it, it is a deep groove ball bearing which is designated 6902 at Bearingman which cost me R50-00.

The others might be the same?! Dunno

The 71902C or CD is an angular contact bearing. the 1036902 is a deep grove double row bearing, heavier and less reliable,

the 6006 also called a 6303 is std pivot beaarigns and should be easily obainable as they are deep groove single row.

15245 is a tapered cup and cone set also called 15123.

I recall these from an Amphibious car project I once under took.

You must either be working on a boat anchor or a BMC (Boats Mechanical Captive)

:)

I'll call the BMG compny n CT to see if they have these since we are an aquatic city

These are bog standard bearings. Don't forget to add the suffix 2RS which means 2 Rubber Seals (on the first two numbers). The second number goes together with another number.

I will try old contacts and get back to you!

Thanks guys, I've edited for alpha values. Some are so graunched I guess them.

All are deep groove single row bearings off a suspension bike. Judging from the condition, it was salt-water amphibian most of its life.

RS 2 goes without saying on bike bearings. As it is I'm replacing some with steel "seals" (ZZs) which were totally inappropriate for the application. Thanks for thinking beyond what I considered the obvious.

I'll try SKF. I'm so far sorted with two of the six different types of bearings on this bike (freehub also involved). What a mission.

Wil pop into the local bearing shop tommorow.  The 6006 looks like the problem child.

The other place to look is skate board bearings but they tend to be expensive. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Thanks guys, I now have Lester from BMG Alberton working on the problem as suggested by one of you.

I've just mailed him proof of an "impossible size" as well. Lets see how he reacts to alien technology.

Lester is a pretty cool bloke. Thanks.

Turns out that the one bearing is impossible. The 6006 is also not a "Standard" 6006 but a 6006 with non-standard dimensions. However, he can source that.

I smell American interference in a numbering system that should be standard and functional.

Just to put it out there: http://www.enduroforkseals.com/. This would involve shipping and import and the like but they do seem to have all the kits for all bikes...

Johan we will be taking on the Enduro agency and should have initial stock arriving within the month. If you need anything in the future we should have most of the "specific" bearings. Let me know if you need anything down te line:
