No Race-radio's at Giro

I must say thats the first I hear of this, is it not still a proposal / suggestion Baaisiekel, radios were cetainly preset at the Giro.

Personally, I think it will be great if it happens, I couldnt care locally, but as far as the grand tours go, I think it will make things a lot more interesting.

Daar was radio's by die Giro.

They did??

Okay, well, most of the guys I saw were wearing earpieces.I assume they had a reason to do so and it wasnt just a fashion statement.Wink

Ek vra verskoning !

On Super Cycling they said the French national championships will be raced without radio's (Marc Madiot pushed the decision to have it tested at their national championships). Race radio's were definitely allowed at the Giro this year, although I think Di Luca raced without one.

For interest sake, Bouyges Telecom (now Bbox Telecom) raced Grand Prix de Plumelec without radio's last year as a test, and still managed to take the victory via Thomas Voeckler.

All the local amateur teams that race against the pro's (or atleast those that I can think of) do have radio's, so in reality it's not giving the SA pro's much advantage, but I understand your point. From a safety- as well as 'mechanical trouble' point of view the radio's are very helpful though, but naturally there are two groups: Those against radio's, and those for radio's. I fall in the latter.
