You guys should join me for a Trials session one weekend. Seeing what people are doing on that trail that runs around the Trials course normally makes me shake my head in disbelief. Pushbikes, bikes with training wheels, people that obviously can't ride... all on a Green 5! I've seen people crash, or turn around and go back out of the entrance, or cut across the grass, daddy walking behind his kid on the push-bike carrying the kids' helmet!

We should have a few hundred Idiot badges made so we can hand them out there on weekends.

If you on a part of the trail and it is blocked by a 6 year old shotnose that also wanna learn how to ride , then wait till he's finished and go and try again . There is no place in that park where you gonna run over some poor kid cause you did not see him . We all know that one of the biggest rule is to look ahead when you going full speed on your bike . We had the same thing at logwood years ago and some of those laaities now kicks my ass on any technical section .

I'm fortunate to live near enough to the park to ride there on weekdays when I have the trails virtually to myself. On weekends, I expect to have to be patient with the high volume of kids. I don't mind because I like to see kids on bikes. When you're 10 years old and riding with your buddies, a black route isn't something to be feared, it's something to be tried... It's how you learn your limits. It's how I learned my limits. And I became a bicycle rider for life.

dirty you may be right - but coming around a corner on the green mile, to almost crash into a mum and her kiddie right in the middle of the track, where they stand to admire the roasties, and then being shouted abuse at because i almost hit them, is not fun - then i'd rather stay away on weekends - which is a pity, because it's a safe area real close to me

have seen dad's dropped their kids, and then LEAVE  the park

the xc-route on friday morning was huge fun, but unfortunately i couldn't stay long :(

the rule of thumb with logwood was: progress tothe next difficulty when you can clean a trail without dabbing. kids on jd bugs kinda dab all the time. i've got nothing wrong with waiting, and do so patiently, but my original post complained about the black routes specifically. while, as sean says, a 10-year-old is gonna go for it, and may have a chance of succeeding, a 6-six-old just shouldn't be on them.

At least I have my own little private section.  I get some curious visitors, but pretty much I get lots of room.  BONUS...

K-Dee, Geoff would be mucho happy if you were to assist by keeping people (and kids) in check.  i.e. Tell them that it's one way on the BMX track, chat to the parents etc.  He has asked me to help out too.

I've been thinking of putting together a DJ build, but your beginner line scares me! A 5-foot high jump is NOT for beginners! Confused

How long was that list of injuries of yours again? LOL

Not riding this weekend, still recovering from the flu. I think we'll do some maintenance on the Trials course though on Sunday morning. The kids have been doing their best to destroy the thing.
