Thanks slowpoke.

Log in again on Monday.

Got appointments to see radiologist, orthopedic surgeon, occupational therapist and then physio therapist on Monday.

So will have much better idea of progress after all those visits.

Hi BMC Fan.

Thanks, I'm doing ok. Been confined to lazy boy chair & bedroom for three weeks. with the odd adventure out to the back yard to sit outside in the sun. Have not been outside my front gate for three weeks.

So I cant wait for this afternoon. All of these visits to dr etc etc, are all later this afternoon.

1st question I have for dr. is when & how often can I start removing my "flea collar" Confused

2nd Question: When can I start riding on my indoor trainer... Big%20smile

Fortunately the most important question has already been answered.

After asking the dr. about full recovery and anything  I wont be able to do post my accident. He said that I'd be able to do everything I was allowed to do prior to the crash. Only slight worry is whether or not I'll regain full extention in left elbow. (Might not be able to fully extend or "lock" the left elbow) But I'm quite confident of a full recovery

Hi Mike.

Eish, sorry to hear about your mishap? What happened?

Ja, also had those two races on my TO DO list for '09, but We will be back (me and my wonderfully supportive wife) in 2010, with many rides on both the tandems.

Hey Mdk555, how did you manage to post the x-rays here?

Want to show you the latest x-rays of my neck & elbow.

(Especially the piece of bone not attached to vertebra.....Confused).

So spent the entire afternoon with radiologist & orthopedic surgeon.

Surgeon removed my Philadelphia collar (similar to Sophiso's last night on Supercycling)and replaced with soft collar. Also allowed from remove collar from time to time to start getting neck muscles back into shape.

Dr. quite happy with progress, but there is still a piece bone not attached to the vertebra but apparently not crucial / critical.

Only need to see him again for follow up in 6months time. Now its up to the physio & occupational therapist to get me back into shape......

My "house of pain" session with these two was postponed to tomorrow, where they will give me a new brace for the arm to start stretching it back into full extention little by little. I KNOW this is going to hurt.....OuchConfused.

The movement in left arm/elbow is still limited, but getting better every day. Making it worse, I'm left handed and my left arm is the injured one.

Made my 1st visit to the shop (MANIC CYCLES) on Monday afternoon, and it actually felt like I was walking into another LBS, since its been such a long time away from not being there on a dayly basis. I'm very proud of my staff and they have done a great job to keep the business going in my absense. Thanks Marshall & Christopher, you guys are SUPERSTARS!! Clap

Spent a few hours in the shop yesterday in the morning, to help with a bit on the admin and was also there to help a few customers who were quite surprised to see me back.

Once again thanks for all the support from so many people, you are all appreciatted.

Now I just need to convince my wife to allow me onto the indoortrainer.....LOL

So how long you still be out of action?
Accident happened on 11/7,operated on 13/7, saw quack on 24/7 and then allowed me to spin at gym but no standing/pressure on arm. Arm is out of sling and will be seeing him on 19/8 and if he is happy with growth will allow me to road cycle but no MTB. Can only MTB 4 weeks later so Karoo 2 Coast is out as well. Now looking at doing Desert Dash in Nam on 18/19 Dec  mdk5552009-08-05 00:36:13

Thanks Mike, will make plan to take pictures and post.

My left elow is now REALLY looking worse for wear... seems every time I've had a bad crash, my left elbow seems to take the brunt of the fall.

Collection of scars & road rash on left elbow is becoming quite extensive Confused

Good luck with your recovery and hope you'll be ready to enjoy a great Desert Dash.

Hi Everybody.

Untill now it has not really dawned upon me what a wonderfull gesture I received from this online forum.

The money donated to me has been released from the 30day investment account and been paid into my account.

Now I can settle quite a number of the dr's etc etc accounts that are still outstanding.

Once again thank you VERY MUCH for helping a fellow hubber in need.

And for all of you who looked after me in their prayers, an even bigger thank you.

The road to recovery is still a tough battle, but I'm happy to say that we are making weekly progress.

God bless all of you.

Regard

Thanks BMC Fan.

Got a bit of bad news yesterday. A friend that is an occupational therapist recons the arm will never be 100% again.

But, to date I've surprised many people with my rate of recovery, so I'll show them yet.....
