This review is of one company - Cyclesure.

I have been insured with this company for three years during which i have been fortunate enough to be claim free and thus was unable to review their pay-out ability.

This situation has now changed as I have damaged my mtb frame - I miss hit a water-course bump at about 60kph and crcked the frame - the surity that i felt at being covered by "accident damage" evaporated as the company refused to pay-out, citing metal fatigue and the inability to cover fair wear and tare.

The metallurgists analyzing the frame could not exclude the forces from the rear wheel on the swing arm as being strong enough to cause the fractures seen in the frame but could not exclude metal fatigue either....

So in conclusion Cyclesure took the easy option and elected not to pay out.

My review of the company thus far - poor.

I feel you should stick with the bigger insurers who have a personal relationship(via brokers). The brokers tend to fight more for their clients. I'm one so I know, where did these guys advertise or did you get it thru a broker, don't know them

this is so typical. I have a full household insurance in Germany and my MTB was stolen out of a closed parking garage whilst being bolted, ie, with a chain locked to a bolted down cycling rack for bicycles. Th einsurance co would not pay out as they claimed that there was no visible dammage and they could not see traces of a breaking ............... go figure, they are all S&%ts ----

I have been with Cyclesure also for about 3 years and have 2 bikes insured with them for myself and my son. In that time we have had approximately six claims mainly for crash damage. Each claim has been dealt with promptly and usually settled within 2-3 hours.

I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them.

I cancelled with Cyclesure, the 5% excess and additional 10% (For theft and Hijacking) that I had to forfeit when my bike was stolen left me worse off. I had to get cheaper bike than what I was insured for. So what should you do say a R50k bike Costs R58k so you can replace ur bike at its true value?. Now with Garrun Group, I at least pay less than Cyclesure.

[/quote'] My broker gave me a quote from cyclesure, and said that their quote would be almost double of that of cyclesure. I'm with Sa Eagle which is definately a bigger one.

Just been through the whole quotation exercise to insure my bikes etc.

In the end opted to move everything to Alexander Forbes; got the best deal from them and they offer complete cover for bicycles including racing.

Got a few other quotes including one from Cyclesure for the bikes (which was not bad; they even offer a deal covering only 2 bikes out side of the home at any time out of the 2 MTBs and 2 road bikes my wife and I own).

All I can say.....Read your policy schedule every day for the next six months, they'll still find an excuse some where not to pay....

Let me just stop there.
