Have a 105 brake caliper that is badly bent. The bit that the shoe bolts onto is twisted.

Now what I need to know is if this thing is going to break when I bend it straight? I get this bad feeling.....Unhappy

Should I anneal the alumimium a bit before I bend it? Should I heat it a bit or should I bend it cold? It's a fairly "big" bend to get it straight! Ideas?

smiley36.gif famous last words . Bump your post again tomorrow , I am sure Johan may have a way of doing it but from my experience if it does not break while you try and bend it back it breaks later .

Take it to Dirt-Riders place he got a big oxy-acetylene torch I heard ........

DR will break it off and then weld it back for you.

Johan will first start a Hub Debate about the relative tensile strength of the different alloys used in  break brake (sorry Bored Girl) arms and then tell you to upgrade to disk brakes because they are much more efficient Wink.

On a serious note, I wouldn't try bending it and still trust it. That arm must be under lots of stress when you pull the brakes and could very easily break off. Can you not replace the arm as a separate part?
