Dirt*girl & Aunty,

You two are my new lady heros. I see some sense being spoken (well it makes sense to me, and if that is the case it must be very obvious to everyone else Wink - I am only a man after all)

It never helps arguing a point from an emotional point of view, but I suppose that is the allure of The Hub - why let facts spoil a good story?

Thank you Ladies.

I have posted some figures of running on another thread.

No matter what happens with prize money ladies will not reach the status or field size of men simply because gov. and sports bodies do not invest in the ladies as they the men. Ladies are always given the second best, why what is the motivation behind this?

Anke, Ronel,Anriette, Michelle,Erica, Hanlie you name them they do their best with what they have and still no recognition from the sports bodies.

Young Michelle Corbett raised funds to go to Europe this way what did CSA or the cycling community contribute towards her trip? I don't think much.

What happened to everyone being entitled to their opinion?  Does that only apply when the opinions are the same as yours?

There is really no need (not that I can think of, in any case, although there might be personal issues of which I am unaware) to get nasty and accuse hubbers of being emotional and untruthful.  Everyone was giving their opinions, which they are entitled to.

Please point the emotional posts out.  Also, please let us know where facts were deliberately withheld in order not to spoil a good story.

Thanks Gasping - looking forward to hearing from you.

With regard to the thread:  The problem most people seem to have with awarding equal prize money is numbers.  Come on guys!  What are you doing to encourage ladies to get into cycling and to compete, thereby upping the numbers?

Prize money and sending our Juniors on the Europe tour is two different things, but on that topic, yes, I think it is disgusting,  we have such talented young riders, they have to prove themselves at their own cost overseas, Look at the results, Michell took two first places last weekend. Look at Christopher and the others, they are preforming well, winning. the argument is this is for their experienced, but yet once they start winning it is now our South African riders...

Look at the track riders going to worlds....... representing our country, they also have to pay the bulk of the money!!!!!  and and they had to pay on top of that money to go to DURBAN to have a team training.

Perhaps if we were soccer or rugby our government would give us more support

On this note, good luck to all our Juniors selected to go to Junior Worlds in Moscow....Thumbs%20Up

Nothingness, with the utmost respect to you, please lighten up.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I did notice on a couple of threads you have been trying to make yours dominant. That is your right, as it is mine.

The emotional posts are a lot like this one.

Facts being deliberately withheld? I don't believe those were my words. The facts of the matter are if it is my money I am handing over as prize money, I will give it to whomever I please.

As regards your question asking "Come on guys!  What are you doing to encourage ladies to get into cycling and to compete, thereby upping the numbers?" Right back at you.

I am now off this post. The best thing about beating your forehead nto a brick wall is that when you stop, you get an immense feeling of relief.

I cannot win this argument with you. I cannot even get you to see my point of view. Hell, I cannot even get you to quote me accurately.

Hey guys' date=' Nothingness is right, everyone is entitled to their own opinion...HOWEVER....the only opinion that counts..is an educated one.

Eldron' date=' I think we've already come to that conclusion, so now the debate is how much????

I've painted myself into  bit of a corner here...I'm part of the "have nots" in that I'm a sub vet who battles to compete with the elites so I want my own equal prize money but have vehemently defended unequal prize money LOL

So here goes: 33.34%! 33.34% of the total prize money goes to the overall winner and the remaining 66.66% gets split evenly amongst the rest. Hows that? To the second decimal no less!!!!

Nothingness,

No worries. The problem with emails/on-line posts is that I cannot see the writer's face (probably a good thing they cannot see mine) and therefore judge the mood of the words. I am only left with what I read.

It would seem that I misread what you were saying. Don't you hate it when your own words come back and bite you in the (in my case its fat) ass? So, I am the one being emotional.

Sorry.

About the only exercise I am getting lately is jumping to conclusions. And beating my head into a brick wall smiley2.gif smiley11.gif

I will post this (minus your name) on the thread as well.

I am not a female. While I do agree with your plight (?) and support it to a degree, I am not as passionate as you are regarding your rights and discriminations against you and your gender. I should be more sensitive in the future.

This is an unreserved apology for my comment posted earlier. Your PM was written in a very conciliatory tone, and I appreciate the note.
