R30 increase (33%)

I still do not understand how people can complain about R30 - you cannot do anything with that anymore. If it where a 10km fun run, but 86km - thats R1.40 per km!!!!

I earn a very small salary but even I can afford it. Heck I just paid R140 for Mountain Bike Challenge and thats 42km - I think its a bargin.

Not being able to ride at the Golovane tomorrow due to my bike not going in for a service, is actually a blessing in disguise cos to enter the 50km, they're charging R165.... but that apparently includes a lunch worth R65, but that's still a lot of money

I try to ride as many MTB races as possible however paying either R165 (50KM) and R100 X 2 for my kids (R365) is a lot of money. During a month with the number of races on at the moment, it would be easy for me to spend in excess of R1000 on entries which I believe is expensive.

It would possibly be easier for a lot of families if all the races got together with ROAG and an annual membership/ entry was paid at the beginning of the year with some type of benefit to the member.

At the moment, I have to be selective as to the number of races I can enter (although I would like to do all the KZN ones) or otherwise talk the kids into doing shorter races to reduce the entry fees.

You must remeber Golovane is an exception here in KZN. the event is aimed at a specific market with an excellent meal and a live band thrown in. look at their entry fee last year? the event organisers response will be interesting.

the Toti 69er is purely a case of trying to cover costs as far as i know. i personally attended the event this weekend, and i have never seen so many "officials" at an event - ever! apparently some or most? of them are paid to "enforce" the rules. its apparently one of the reasons why road racing is so expensive. according to the organisers, ROAG has been brought in to try and bring the cost of holding a Road race DOWN.

Trust me, ROAG doesnt make money out of administering an event.

Well I decided to do the Golovane yesterday, with the bike still making a slight clicking noise due to not taking it in for a service, which resulted in me doing the 19km, very short ride but didn't want to take any chances.... and as for those lovely ladys offering free massages afterwards, hehe.. my legs weren't even sore I just wanted a massage from a beautiful girl.

Those 'nurses' at the end of the Golovane were great Wink

Confusedbut they were handing out the foulest concoction I have ever drunk at race end. All I wanted was a cold beer or perhaps a powerade.

The idea of a kiddies race before the main one was great though. At least it wasnt a them or me choice like it normally is.  that alone will keep me coming back until my kids graduate to the longer race.

So all in all i am still a roag fan.

Well done to BMax for supplying free products, and the nurses!

I'm sure that horrible tasting glutamine shot at the end is the reason why my legs are feeling strong right now. Anything that tastes that bad has to work!

Just a note to Roag organizers , pro's > great efficiency with on line entries & payment options (Karkloof was the best modus operandi)

Info & feedback from ALL people we have spoken to who entered Golovane & Toti69 road race were not happy with the proceedings & once again the back log to register ,i heard the mtb race started whilst people were still registering ..not on.. , how can you ROAG organizers avoid this from happening over & over again ?

Roag has made it much easier to enter a race on-line once all your initial information is submitted.

The registration process at Ballito was slow I believe because of problems with power interuptions. Race organisers and Roag should consider all other options at improving the speed of the registration process to avoid long ques and riders being late for the start.

The Food and the music after the race was great however warm water at the finish and less loose sand during the race should be looked at for next years race.
