pedal menace Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Hi, I am considering buying a new bike but it seems excluding Raleigh (which I personally have no problem with) every other top of the range bike exceeds R50K? I want something that at least has Dura Ace 7800 or SRAM Force/Red. The Raleigh Team LTD (at R40K) at this stage seems to be by far the best value for money.

Polka Dot Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 I know of a shop in KZN selling full carbon bikes, and I mean FULL carbon, everything down to the stem, handlebars, seatpost AND saddle, with full DuraAce gruppo, for around 20k. PM me if you want some more details.

From my research it seems to be a really good deal. If that is the case all that reamins is a frame as other accesories (i.e. handlebars, pedals etc) I can simply take from my existing bike. What you all think of the Specialized Tarmac SL2 frame?

dollar Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Is price the main criteria? The more cash the better? Why not draw up a list of criteria - like 7800, carbon frame and create the bike yourself. I think that you will be surprised how well you can do at building the thing yourself rather than buying someone else's idea of what he can sell for R50k?
