Ok' date=' input from all the mommies out there needed please.

How soon after giving birth ( cesarean section ) can you get back into the saddle?  I presume here that you will have to take it slow and short aswell with the first cycle, or can you make the first cycle one back a major ride ?

I'm trying to book a few races for the end of the year and would want to know when my other half can join.

I wouldn't advise riding home from the hospital ;)

6 weeks is the minimum amount of recovery that she'll need considering she would have just undergone major abdominal surgery.  But another consideration is whether or not she'll be breastfeeding. If she does, she'll be lucky to get away from baby long enough to ride 5 kays let alone 40. Parenthood is difficult enough in the former weeks without adding unnecessary pressure to get back to cycling.

Jackes, both you two aren't really cyclists to begin with. You haven't spent much time on the bike before she was pregnant...I think you're both going to not see a bike for another year or two.

It has bugger all to do with your wife's body Tongue

I get wonder woman's point.  If you really are a keen cyclist you would have been out cycling more while you could.  Your whole life is about to be turned upside down, all the things you could previously do whenever you wanted have to now be planned around the baby.  So if cycling wasn't a high priority before its going to be even lower once baby arrives.

This + WW's point is kinda not what I asked.  We always do the races at the end of the year and during holiday, because that is the only times we get time to cycle due to our work.  So from our point of view it is not about how often but when.  But due to the pointers raised here that when ( end of the year ) is not going to happen this year obviously.
