I've stripped my bike to clean up the rear suspension pivot points and I see one of the bushes has a slight bow to it. It's the bush that runs through the bottom end of the rear shock. So, I rekon it's time for new ones. I figure I'll just replace all of them at once.

Are these bushes a standard size (obviously length varies) and are they bike specific or should you be able to pick them up from your LBS? If not where can one source them?

I've also now read that the bushes should be run dry (i.e. never greased), but after a picked up a creak sometime back, I greased the buggers, which seemed to do away with the annoying creak. Any comments?

They are bike specific, and usually have to be ordered from the agents. As for greasing, the bushings on my Fuel were always dry, and I never had any issues.

suspensions bushes should run dry.

Bushes for the shock can be sourced from the Suspension manufacturers local distributors.

Fox is Omnico

Rock Shox is Cape Cycle Systems.

For frame suspension bushes you need to contact the frame local distributor.

You don;t mention which bike you have so check the manual or with your LBS whom you can contact or bushes.

Most are imperial size dimentiones so will not be easily found over the counter at Bearing Man

Thanks for the all replies.

The bike is a Commencal Meta 5.5 '07 and the guys from Commencal have helped out massively by replacing the damaged part smiley20.gif. Turns out I had my terminology wrong, it was a pivot axel that was slightly bent. I checked out the bearings last night and they are all in bad shape so I'm in the process of sourcing new ones. Fortunately it is a common bearing (608-2rs), found them at Bearing International.

Now just to try and put everything back together when I get all the parts together smiley24.gif
