Also, the difference between SRAM PC951 vs PC971 vs PC991 vs the Hollow pin? Is it worth the extra money?

Save more money and look after your chain . The best chain is a well maintained chain .

No disagreement there - but unfortunately you will have to replace it as some stage... So what would you suggest?

Get the SRAM Crossstep chain. Almost as light as the hollowpin, and lasts longer, doesn't corrode if you maintain it.

I have had both, shift quality is the same.

How many km's do you get out of this chain and in what conditions? Also, what is the difference between this and the PC991, say?

Shimano HG 93..... best value for money and lasts just as long as the XTR chain, if not longer...... read again what Dirt Rider said above.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall;" id="jsProxy" ="">

Chain life is utterly dependant on your maintenance and chain hygeine. Tandem riders know that and look after their chains. On the tandem a HG 93 lasts 2500 to 3500 km. Do not trust SRAM chains. Every chain that we broke was a SRAM. Tandems are the FINAL proving ground of ANY components.

Is this similar to the PC971, or would you say it's better?
