i've UPS almost exclusively, and my experiences have been completely contrary to Big H's cautions. I'm not saying they are perfect, but so far, i'm batting 100's when it comes to a satisfactory delivery, ie it got here yesterday ;) And they've gone some ways to accomodating me by delivering to my house stone last as I'm normally at work when they normally deliver. So pretty stoked.

Still waiting... oh the agony!

Beginning to think an extra R300/R400 might just be worth it, simply for the tracking number... Hopefully, Postman Pat will be smiling over me...

Took Three months and three resends to get my last order to me, never going the royal mail route again. UPS only.

I ignore your version of reality, and choose to replace it with my own! ;)

I seriously hope your experience was the exception, rather than the rule, Covie!

Nothing yet - so I guess SAPO has performed according to current expectations...

What to do now? Ask them pretty please to send it again - but offer to pay extra and rather have it sent via Parcelforce?

Suggestions anyone - Covie?

crap rodti, since you used the standard mail service, its probably at a local Post office but since you dont get a tracking number theres not much point going into the post office to try and find the item. (or am i just being pesimistic)

The only thing you can do is contact CRC and tell them yet another SA Post item has not arrived and if they can resend using parcelforce. At least that way you get a tracking number. Although they only used parcelforce for me after the order got lost the third time.

I reckon I've got nothing to lose by popping in to the Post Office, and trying my luck...

Did you just pay in the extra difference for the Parcelforce option?

On the second try i said ill pay parcelforce fee's they declined and sent royal mail anyway. on the third try they said ok they will do parcelforce for free.

I am sure if your visit to the post office doesnt pan out, then phone them up and tell them to send parcelforce and dont take no for an answer.

Might just pop up a seperate thread about this, if I cannot find anything on the Search option - maybe someone will spot this andf be able to help?

Fired off an email to CRC, and received a very sweet and apologetic(?) reply back from Melissa, who amongst other things, has suggested I contact my local Customs office, and check whether the parcel isn't sitting there, waiting to be collected...

Anyone have the phone number for the local Customs office - presumably in Cape Town... I guess I had better check JHB's too...

Fanks!

Capemail Foreign Parcels: 021 590 5712/3/6/5

dont forget: tracking via this link.

Thanks Capricorn - you've potentially just saved me hours.

Googled "Customs Office Cape Town" - was told I need to phone CapeMail - given as 021 534 7435 - but was warned to be paitent, as they only have one phoneline... Tried 6 times already - always engaged

Going to give yours a try now, and see what happens!

I used royal mail over december last year... took five weeks! No tracking number also scares me!

My last parcelforce order took 1 week exactly. I think the extra cash is worth it.

Have certainly become that way inclined!

Might still use Royal Mail /SAPO for the really small things - but other than that - will be forking out the cash in future, purely for the peace of mind that comes with a tracking number...

With this being said - I'm only in Week 3 - so maybe I'm being too optimistic... Though - yours took 5 weeks over Chirstmas, which might explain things?
