Great climbing test today after shifting the ride from Table Mountain to Drakenstein Mountains.

Beautiful Boland mountains. ^_^

Two horses parked at the summit overlooking Paarl in the Western Cape:

What sort of pace sirk, I am all riden out after the 100 miler

That is, presumably, about a 28 km/h avg and a lil' more wheels rollin' effort, udxcob...

Quite determined...

Headhunter was looking at about a 25km/h average but I don't know what the distance is like  I'm just going along for the ride

between 22 & 24km/h ave for 4 passes is more realistic.

Last time we did it with a 26.4km/h ave only because we hung on to Sefan Ihnlenfeltd's wheel for dear life!

From Stellenbosch he carried on to Durbanville and us to Somerset ... then our phase dropped to about 12km/h ... we were gaaaar! Oh and there wasnt much wind that day and that ave included a 8min pitstop!

Its about 135km

Tankmans (tbc) is as follows, I wont be joining, sorry chaps and enjoy the ride!

Nice ride today MariusL and Headhunter  Great 25Km/h ave for the 4 passes :D Next time we make sure the weather is the same, so that I can use my shoe covers and we avoid that head wind past Theewaterskloof that Headhunter was talking about

LD Ride (long Distance)

Sunday 12/06/2011

Meet at Klein Joostenberg Entrance at about 8:15

(Myself and Headhunter are riding in from our homes - so there might be a slightly later time deviation.)

Route: Weather dependant - but Klein Joostenberg, Stellenbosch, Helz, Franschhoek, Franschhoek pass to the top and back down, Over the back of Helz to Stellenbosch and go your own way from there. ROUTE LINK

I am riding with Headhunter to Somerset West and to Kuils River via R301 (I think) for the extra mileage and climbing elevation.

Distance: 88.26Km from Klein Joostenberg to Franschhoek Pass back to Stellenbosch.

Ave Speed: 27Km/h

Climbing: 1027m
