Thanks for the help Wannabe... oh sorry - Gawie.

Got wheels after work, punctured front tube when putting tyre back on

Got a question - I noticed that my back rim has a bit of a 'wobble'? Is it am issue? Heard the spokes settle in after putting a bit of weight on it after getting tyre on. I think it too much of a mission to take it back to get sorted - I can straighten it myself but might make it worse.... What you guys reckon?

p.s. Geno - burn that white kit when you get back to SA :P (no don't - I think I might die! - and not due to natural circumstances)

I'd be surprised if it go better on its own.

A small amount of lateral run out isn't the end of the world...but it ain't the way it should be.

You've paid somebody to do a job, it's not unreasonable to expect the job to be done right.

Good luck either way!

You are a good cycling buddy for sure... Always enjoy the ride when you are there.

Was nice seeing you at the CWC night ride last night B)

Aw, now you're making me blush!!

Yeah, was nice knowing someone at the ride. You are strong!! After turning onto the Occultdale road, you guys just lit up and go. Was caught half asleep and lost your wheel right from the start, but four of us formed a nice little group and stayed in touch, just just. Was an excellent ride, even if the wind was quite hectic.

SirK, phone them, tell them about it, and then take the wheels for their maiden voyage over the weekend (to let them "settle" in) and then take them back next week to be straightened. A bit of sideways movement is not too much of and issue, but an wobble (up and down) is.

Enjoy your various rides over the weekend. Got some Family commitments, no ride for me.

Just what I was thinking...... now to wait for them to open. It looks lateral not vertical movement but after settling in it should be good for 1 fix up straighten and then good to go - still waiting for my other rim (race wheels)

Four of us chasing the main bunch, 3 guys and a lady? Which one was you? I was wearing ITec kit.

I also enjoyed the ride, just a bit to much tar for a mtb ride (haha - I never thought I would hear my roadie ass saying that!) :D

Yip, thats the group.I was the one wearing the yellow wind jacket, and huffing and puffing.. Tried to stay out of the wind as much as possible. As a recent immigrant to Cape Town, not fond of the wind, or used to riding in it. Will get used to it (or rather, MUST)

It was kinda strange, sitting third wheel into the wind, and then Moolman and Louis put the afterburners on and suddenly it was dark... all the lights behind me disappeared and it was just the three of us pumping it into the wind (okay I wasn't pumping it, I was just hanging on for dear life)... was quite suprised at the gap we had in such a short space of time... :o

But this is the fun of night rides :)

A bit off topic here - bike shop will straighten wheel next week. 'new' rim should be at P.O. tomorrow :D

Glad to hear that. Enjoy "breaking in" the new wheels.

Ja, and hopefully not actually breaking the wheels on their maiden voyage over the tarred sea B)

I'm planning a Sunday ride of approx 120km. From Durban Rd/Old Oak to Stellies, over Old Helz, then ride like a pnoes through Pniel, left at Boschendal and on through Paarl, then back to Durbanville via Fisantekraal.

Relaxed pace, no willy waving, really just aiming to get a long ride under the belt before the One Tonner.

Just in case anybody is looking for a ride tomorrow morning...

Leaving Old Oak/Durban Rd at 7, expecting to average 25-27km/h and have a relaxed morning out.
