Leave corner Old Oak/Durban rd at 7:00 to ride to Stellies via La Belle Rd, Stikland and Polkadraai. Up Helz, then turn round and back via either Bottelary or Fisantekraal.

bikemonster Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 The last couple of k's felt tough! I had my ride ruined by a guy in Matie kit doing Hell repeats up the fierce part of Helz. He flew past me like he was sprinting when I was going up, and after I'd made my way to the top and stopped for a banana snack, he was still at it when I went back down. Riding a GT with lime, white and dirt colour scheme. Good to be out and riding, and as ever, nice to spend time on the bike with you, Mr Bender.

Wannabe Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Sucker for punishment. There is no training for hills like training/racing in hills. Must get my fat backside in gear and start riding those hills at intensity. But all depends if I'm gonna get my road bike fixed/sorted before the weekend.

I am away for 3 weeks and you go do something crazy to your bike?! Will see what Saturday has in store - what time depart and from where? Was gonna ease into riding again with a 'quick' 16Km rekkie ride with my wife for the race near Wellington on the 23rd (I think) and maybe some hill repeats up Bains Kloof. Can always make it a 99er with a 16Km warm down? Will see....

BUMMER. That is a bummer. Gonna have to take a rain check for the 99er training ride. I had promised to do the rekkie ride and am going to stick to my word. Will do Bains Kloof repeats as training. See you guys on the road sometime soon!
