So we did the Jock last weekend and on the Sunday after the race I took to hubbers to this climb outside Baberton. They have never seen or done it before. It was fun smiley36.gif

It used to be a stage on the Sunday after the race, why not anymore ?

The record for the 7 km hillclimb was set by Nic White in 2004 at 24:42 as far as I know.

My top speed on my MTB is on that hill

95.2 km/h with my ass a couple of cm above the rear tire.

Its on that 1km straight section just before the horshoe bend at the bottom.

Awesome. . .  dont know if I want to do it on the mtb.

There is a dirt road clim to the top where they paraglide that takes about an hour with the MTB

Kwaai Matchstix ! That 1 km straight probably is one of the steepest parts as well. Next year I'll join my friends and see how far up we can go, IF the hillclimb is not back as part of the Jock.

its a 10% gradient if I remeber right. .  dont know if I will trust the brakes and those thintires of a road bike, I could only pedal to about 65km. .

But that was awsome

Ha it might look like fun but it is a blerrie back breaker! Gradient goes way past 10%, there is sustained 15, 16, 18% sections...NAAASTY! hehe

that's a cow of a climb!! Used to be the Sunday after the Jock hillclimb and they used to handicap the riders (age etc.) to get an equal chance for a result....

:-) that's good times! Would like to tackle that on the MTB and continue on the dirt...

Into Swaziland it bcomes even more magical. There is this near ghost mining town set in the forests. Would be a Braziliant ride!
