What is the most the MOST CONVENIENT way you use to clean / lube your chain? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

My method = Wipe clean, apply minimal lubricant to each roller, wipe dry and away you go?

Method:

Tools required:

Cleaning device ? Rag or paper towel, hereafter referred to as CD.

Left and right hands ? Hereafter referred to as LH and RH

Lube ? Your choice, hereafter referred to as lubricant.

Method:

1. Hold CD in LH, wrap LH with CD around lower portion of chain midway between jockey and chain ring. Note, not to close to jockey or chain ring as CD can be awkward to retrieve if it enters either.

2. Turn crank anti clockwise with RH at a comfortable speed, tighten grip around chain sufficiently to remove dirt without deflecting chain line or restricting chain movement.

3. Change CD and repeat as required.

4. Replace CD with lubricant

5. Apply lubricant (1 or 2 drops per roller only) just as the chain goes onto the cluster, while turning crank slowly with RH.

6. Once entire chain (all rollers) has been lubed, continue rotating slowly for +/- 1 minute.

7. Allow to air dry for a few minutes (while you check / pomp the tyres for example).

8. Wipe off excessive lubricant using same procedure 1 and 2.

9. Ride.

Is that all you are legally allowed to do in Cuckooland?

You know how close you are to the truth, cleaning a bike or chain is not so simple when you live in an apartment/flat/cave with no garden, private garage or place to work on your bike and you dont own a hosepipe or even have a place to connect a hosepipe to....

Hence my chain and bike dont get cleaned properly very often...

LoL at you lot, the only drain I got is in the kitchen and bathroom...

If you use biodegradable lube and degreaser then its fine to just let it go into the ground.

Das is nicht so einfach, whose ground?

The run off is not allowed to "go free" it has to go into a proper drain that does not drain into open water/ground.

If i need to wash it properly I take it to the car wash which has individual wash bays which you pay for, problem is 99% have power washes only.

Even at these wash bays you are not allowed to wash your car engines...
