Wow, thanks Velo. What condition are the hoods in? Do they feel new and supple?

Mine are still in one piece, but if I even attempt to take them off they will crumble to pieces. Can't help wondering if Shimano used an inferior type of rubber on this product, which makes me wonder if the NOS stuff is ok?

I have also contacted Cool Heat to see if they have any old hoods lying around. Can't hurt to ask.

They are supple and feel new.  These are the last of the last I think. The ones i was following on eBay were going for over R500 a set.

I'm not sure if its worth actually using them because future replacements are going to be hard to find. Probably better to buy the modern BR600 levers to use daily and put the 7400 in the display cabinet.

Here are pics of the levers I bought today. Can anyone help me identify what year/model they are?

Been riding my 1988 Miyata 712, the last week and it's been great.

Still got the original components on there (except the saddle, pedals and tyres but I still have the saddle and pedals)

Full 105 drivetrain, Bio-pace chainrings, etc.

Wolber Alpine magnesium rims

Will post some pictures later.

Eish, make we think of my first "Racing Bike". It was a Hansom Le Turbo with Wolber wheels, shifters on downtube and the Rolls Royce of saddles, a white Brooks saddle. Geesh, was that thing comfy once your backside got imprinted in the leather. Pity it was a size or two too big for me.

As promised, there are a couple of rust spots that I need to touch up.

FYI: this was/is my first road bike. Also did my quickest Argus on it in 1998 (not that that was very quick at 3:20).

That's the groupo +wheels etc. that came with my Dad's Cannondale.

I'm rebuilding a 1988 'dale in memory of him...now if I can only get around to paint the frame to the correct colour and get the blue cable housing smiley13.gif
