size is big issue as Slowpoke said. I think I am going to test drive the giant this weekend again and then make my final decision.....

ek het nou vrede gemaak met die feit dat ek nooit specialized sal kan ry nie omdat dit nie my size het nie

just curious slowpoke but you say the geometry of the Scott is very different yet when I checked the websites the XS version of both bikes was virtually identical. The only noticeable difference in terms of reach was the fact that the Giant had a 2mm shorter top tube but with the steeper seat angle of the Scott it would negate any difference. I am assuming that both bikes you tested were XS which makes for an interesting opinion.

Given that I am about to switch to a Giant (from a Scott) plus I cannot speak for 'shorties' (having been 6ft since I was 14), I am not supporting one bike over another. Ultimately I would suggest that testing both on the same day is the best option since they are similarly priced. As for the derailleur hanger, Scott will replace the frame if it breaks so no worries there.

I recall some very negative comments about vibrations at high speed downhills on the Scott carbon forks. Will try and locate it again but search for it before you make up your mind.

I noticed that nobody has mentioned SIX13, every review I have seen rates this as one of the best frames around.

I got a brand new six13 2006 frame for R8000-00 including shipping on ebay. The local price of R22000-00 (the last time I checked) was ridiculous. Have built up a complete bike including Record components for less than that using ebay. So my frame does not have a local guarantee (I can live with that)

The guy that shipped it used USPS Express Mail (not sure how managed to get that right since the box was slightly bigger than 49 inches) actuall shipping cost was $89-95.  It took about a week to arrive and had a tracking number. The seller went by the name of fastestbikes
