holy sh*tstix. Have you guys watched Follow Me yet? It's a mixed blessing with some great riding + footage , pls some usual stuff.

ANd then you get the downright sickest riding i've seen, with steve smith and gee atherton at some track in New Zealand. Oh both my sacks. totally gut lurching stuff. THose boys are super pinned on an awesome track and brilliantly captured on film.

Get it. even if only for the last few minutes with Stevie and Gee.

i cant wait to get busy on that little portion between fire roads on signal hill again. That little corner is gonna work out very nicely indeed. I have an idea for the next step after the corner (gonna leave the bit after that drop for another idea and time).

Anyways, rode it for the first time today. it's oritey, but then i hit a sapling in the middle of the track with my bars, and bailed OTB. arms knees heels and elbows. and then the bike cover over.. hahah. got the back tracks to prove it :P i think i cushioned the bikes fall very nicely indeed.

anyways, gonna sort that sapling out as soon as i have another 2 hours to burn smiley2.gif

headsup to the guys riding the track between the fire roads on Signal Hill. there is the beginnings of a rock garden about just before half way down the track. I've bedded in the first 2 meters, and coverd it up with soil to lock in the rocks. But remember, that over time, it's gonna start getting nice and gnarly. expect more work as it's gonna be quite a rock garden in terms of length. chicken run is along the far left, as it's the way slowest line not easily entered due to roots and rocks further up. but u can hook a left..

?

also, just upstream of the rock garden, before that little left turn, expect a step down soon. again, chicken run is on the left around a tree. That chickren run is the existing single track. The Step down follows the high line i normally hit. but it's too straight, and featureless, hence the step down.

f. it was hard work today getting those rocks to teh spot. and where the hell are the huge rocks? what a mission finding them.. smiley6.gif?dont look forward to pulling up those logs for the step down. that track is pretty damn steep if u walk up.

oh yes, almost forgot: at the bottom, i filled that hole on the left, so u can go straight and hit that little drop onto the fire road proper like and just roll into the next bit of track on the other side. i'm already eyeballing a serious potential for a decent road gap. but that's later as the landing still needs to be cleared of trees and a massive fallen tree stump..oi.. :(

does any body know where i can find a disc brake adapter for a 2007 bomber 66. the caliper is a international standard mount so the adapter should be a 51mm caliper mount and a 74 mm post that mount to the fork. the adapter should fit a 203mm rotor.

I have one that I bought from Caj##S. I asked them for a Boxxer specific 203mm IS to Post adapter... they sold me a regular Avid 203mm front IS to Post adapter.

So yeah... I ended up getting the proper boxxer one from CRC and have never used the other.

Where are you based?

any of the XCers on the forum ride the track between the fire roads on Signal Hill recently? just wanted your thoughts on the first bit of the rock garden? For the DHers, it's a minor bump in the road as it were, but for the riders who go a bit slower, it may be a bit more bumpy. Reason i'm asking is, that's only the first few meters. It's gonna get a lot longer, and rockier..

?

The step down hasn't come to fruition yet, but keep an eye for construction. Will provide a path around the work area, which will also serve as the chicken run once the step down is done.

I've already eyeballed a new drop in point to join up with the track i'm referring to above.

As a point of reference, there are two fire roads along the track in question on Signal Hill. I think i will refer to the sections with an SH prefix, followed by the section number starting right at the top of SH.

So, SH1 will be from the tar road ( leading up to the top of Signal Hill), ending at the first fire road. SH2 will be from the first fire road down to the second fire road. SH 2 exits (see pics elsewhere in this thread), and has the beginnings of a rockgarden, with step down and other fun stuff to come, all of course to prevent the slope from washing away (btw: if anyone didnt believe me about that straight line that someone made by dragging their brakes all the way down, being an erosion hazard, go look at SH2 after the past few days of heavy runs. IT'S WASHED OUT! making for some gnarly riding).

SH3 starts where SH2 exists onto the 2nd fire road, and follows a trail that's been there for some time now. Someone cobbled together a micro-berm.I think it was part of the old Urban Assault course. but I'm not sure. At the end of SH, you can go either left or right, with right leading to even more options, mostly single track. It also ties in wth the lower portion of last year's Urban Assault track (turn right, hook a left, roll/jump over some logs, do that little jump, down that rocky slope, left, follow twisty track down to near Vista high school).

So in a nutshell. SH 3 exists, SH2 exists and is a WiP (work in progress). SH1 is just a figment of my imagination. Thoughts on what to do with SH2 and SH1, please let me know. smiley1.gif
